Europcar swizz
Car rental company Europcar, out of Salzburg have defrauded me in a majorly way.
I arrived with a colleague on 20th of June 2018 and after much wrangling with the grim faced receptionist and after faffing around for 20 minutes she agreed to not take my credit card but my metro debit card and she took from it £750 for a deposit in case of accidents etc. Today on the 18th of July I still haven’t had that money back although the vehicle was returned in perfect shape and filled to the brim with petrol. Clearly this is a company that keeps clients’ deposit money in their bank as long as they can – because I was promised after much trying on the phone in the UK that this money would be returned around the 16th of July.
Compare this with renting a car in Britain: we hired, at half the cost of Austria a large Vauxhall for a business trip to Torquay. We got a part refund for the vehicle not being quite perfect, and we got the deposit money back in my account the day that we arrived back in Weybridge.
Can you comment on the way that Brits are being treated by rental car companies post Brexit? We’ll help you raise the roof.
