An important perspective in light of recent discussions in Madison County about teacher raises. Funding is tough for every department, and well and wisely-funded police departments are a necessity. However, we cannot neglect our educators and the reality they are facing everyday in the classroom. There must be a balance and we in Madison County need to make sure we tell AND SHOW our leaders locally (and in Frankfort) what our priorities are. Remember, our state legislators voted this year to give raises to themselves and left teachers and local school boards in the wind.
What will it take to realize enough is enough?

The Richmond Register is currently seeking nominations for our second annual Unsung Heroes awards!
The awards celebrate those in our community who have performed a great service to Madison County without praise or former recognition.
Categories for nominations include those who have contributed to areas such as veteran services, emergency services, public safety, community, health, and education.
This year, the Register is pleased to introduce a new category which will highlight the selfless work of students in our community.
Any Madison County student (K-12 and those pursuing higher education) are eligible for nomination.
