BASAHIN: Naglabas ng pahayag ang Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) ukol sa viral na PWD ramp sa PhilAm Station ng EDSA busway sa Quezon City.

Matatandaang inulan ng samu't saring reaksyon at komento ang nasabing wheelchair access ramp dahil sa disenyo nito.

Masyado umanong matarik at mas lalong maihirapan ang mga wheelchair users sa paggamit bagong rampa.

Samantala, sinabi naman ng MMDA na sinunod lamang nila ang height restriction ng MRT-3.

"Hindi ito perpektong disenyo lalo na sa mga naka wheelchair pero malaking tulong pa rin ito para sa mga senior citizens, buntis at ibang PWDs sa halip na umakyat gamit ang hagdan. Magtatalaga ang MMDA ng mga kawani para umasiste sa mga PWDs kung mahirapan sila pumanhik ng rampa," ayon sa MMDA.

"Kumpara sa nag-viral na photo, hindi ito masyadong matarik kung lalakaran," pagpapatuloy pa nito.

Maglalagay din umano ng rubber mat ang mga awtoridad upang hindi madulas ang mga gagamit ng rampa.

WARNING: SENSITIVE CONTENT

A distressing case of teenage pregnancy has been reported in the town of Mangaldan, Pangasinan. According to data from the Municipal Health Office, the number of teenage pregnancy cases has reached 95 since January of this year. The youngest reported case involves an 11-year-old girl, who was allegedly impregnated by a 26-year-old man from La Union.

Due to the alarming rise in teenage pregnancy cases in their area, the Local Health Board of the local government has proposed the establishment of a crisis intervention unit and a teen shelter. These initiatives aim to address the worsening situation and provide support to young individuals in such circumstances. Additionally, the LGU has tasked the Municipal Health Office with conducting trainings and seminars to help control the incidence of teenage pregnancy in their town.

Meanwhile, the local government has reminded parents of the importance of guiding their children, especially in the use of social media. With the rapid advancement of technology, it has become easier for young people to meet and communicate with various individuals, which can pose different risks.

The government of Mangaldan hopes that through these measures, the number of teenage pregnancy cases in their area will be reduced and eventually prevented.

Tragedy struck on Saturday when a couple from Antipolo City, Rizal province, drowned at Cabongaoan Beach in Agno, Pangasinan. The incident was confirmed by police on Monday, June 24.

The victims were identified as Gonzalo Maglalang Jr., 47, and his wife, Emelita Maglalang, 48, by Cpt. Ross Brian Marmeto, the local police chief. The couple, along with their 25-year-old son, Eugene, were guests at a resort in the coastal village of Ilio-ilio, Burgos town, renowned for its white sand Cabongaoan beach.

The family had just checked in and rested at the resort before deciding to visit the 'depth pool' around 5 p.m. on June 22.

According to Marmeto, Emelita was posing for a photo when she slipped and fell into the water because of high and strong waves. Gonzalo, seeing his wife fall, immediately jumped in to rescue her, but the water current was too strong.

Local fisherfolk and boat operators recovered the bodies of Gonzalo and Emelita around 6 p.m. that evening. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the potential dangers even in popular tourist spots.

Inaresto ng mga tauhan ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) ang isang lalaki sa Bolinao, Pangasinan sa bisa ng isang search warrant matapos akusahan ng panggagahasa sa kanyang 15-anyos na stepdaughter.

Ayon sa ulat, inireklamo rin ang ina ng biktima dahil nanunuod umano ito habang ginagahasa ng kanyang kinakasamang lalaki ang kanyang anak. Sa salaysay ng biktima, hindi magkaanak ang kanyang ina at ang amain kaya siya umano ang balak nilang buntisin.

Sinabi ng bata na dalawang beses siyang ginagahasa ng kanyang amain, lalo na kapag siya ay bagong uuwi mula sa eskwelahan.

Mariin namang itinanggi ng ina at amain ang mga paratang. Ayon sa ina, nagsisinungaling lamang daw ang kanyang anak.

The USS Harder (SS-257), a renowned World War II submarine, has been discovered off the coast of Pangasinan. The Lost 52 Project, dedicated to locating and memorializing the 52 U.S. submarines lost during the war, made the find last week.

The Harder, celebrated for sinking the most enemy warships during the conflict, was last seen in August 1944 during a confrontation with Japanese es**rt vessels in Dasol Bay. The Naval History and Heritage Command confirmed the wreck's location at a depth of over 3,000 feet, with the vessel largely intact except for depth-charge damage.

Nicknamed "Hit 'em HARDER," the Gato-class submarine completed six successful patrols, disrupting Japanese operations significantly. It was declared lost in January 1945 with a crew of 79, earning numerous honors including the Presidential Unit Citation and six battle stars. Captain Samuel Dealey was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.

This discovery is a significant addition to the ongoing efforts to uncover and honor the submerged history of World War II.
