We’re sailing through the volcanic waters of the North Pacific Ocean, and even sailing into a volcano crater! We’re currently sailing from Japan to Australia after competing in the Osaka Cup, a double handed race with just Soph and her mum aboard. We're now joined with two other crew to sail back across the globe, but of course we making the most of it, exploring the remote islands along the way, tune into our new video on YouTube as we explore Chichijima and find maybe the best pit stop on the Pacific highway! https://youtu.be/O9ko7D23SV0

Leaving Japan there were mixed emotions onboard, dread for heading back into challenging conditions but excitement for the wonderful places we would get to stop at along the way! A snippet from our last video over on YouTube 🫶

After a 5,500 nautical mile crossing, a 600 nautical mile one, seemed to go by in an instant. As the sun set on our fourth night out here, we slept in anticipation to see the island at first light. Chichijima is often the first stop on this route back to Australia for the Osaka fleet, it’s a good starting jump for any new crew joining the boats to get their sea legs. It’s also a really special place that you don’t want to miss. Our new video showcases this first stop in our journey from Japan to Australia, don't miss it! https://youtu.be/f9K065lxXAc

HAPPY FATHERS DAY! Hope this video fits into your day of celebration and relaxation!
Join us for the first video of the next part of this journey, the return! Yep, we're now sailing from Japan to Australia. This is when we get to stop at all the places we had to sail past. It starts in the city of Osaka, after sailing all this way, we were desperate for some land time, and super excited to immerse ourselves in this culturally rich and beautiful country. But it wouldn't be long until we were turning the boat around and heading back across the Pacific. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/f9K065lxXAc

Now we’ve made it to the opposite side of the globe, we’ve got to sail back. Traversing the Pacific Ocean now from north to south, will look a little different. This is where we can hang up racing jackets and retie the knots in our cruising sarongs and joining my mum and I, is my dad and Slim. We’re about to sail into tropical paradise, and meet the civilisations that live on the specs of land amongst this ginormous ocean. Tune into the next part of this journey now over on YouTube https://youtu.be/f9K065lxXAc

We made 16 miles in about 5 hours, and the next 14 would take us another 5…a distance that would usually take about 2 hours aboard Fika. Albeit slow, it was a fight right until the end with Magellan right next to us…and then a celebration together upon stepping off the boat for the first time in 5 and a half weeks! What a moment that I will never forget. See the full story here https://youtu.be/c0_ZNMgb3bw?si=GDUiskOWEis3GaQ7
