NEW EPISODE! Today we are joined by Renee Kokts-Porietis, cofounder of .normative on the pod to uncover the lack of diverse representation in scientific research and discussing how My Normative is on a trailblazing path to change the industry.

This episode is super science-y but damn it's good!

What a heartbreaking week to be someone with a uterus or anyone with the capacity to be compassionate towards us.
What a heartbreaking week to hear rotted comparisons about body autonomy and what it is, isn't or should be.
What a heartbreaking week to bear witness to.

Restricting access to reproductive services and procedures while continuing to pour federal funding into abstinence programs is, for lack of a better term, sick and it helps no one.

Shame.

Make sure you're tuning in tomorrow to find out why this ☝️ may well be a better visual.

DID YOU KNOW approximately 1.7% of the global population is born with inters*x traits? That's more than all the redheads in the world!

Supermodel is inters*x and has publicly shared her experience of growing up going through countless mystery surgeries and the secrecy that surrounded her true identity growing up.

After some casual Googling of inters*x conditions, how can anyone believe that gender is biology?

Very excited to go into this void on this week's episode...

Dr. John Harvey Kellogg created corn flakes for the purpose of keeping people physically and morally healthy. He believed flavours and spices of any kind would cause people to ma******te, which was, to him, worse then any other earthly vice.

Coming up this week, we'll talk about why it's actually his brother's name on the box along with the extreme lengths John Harvey went to to keep children from discovering or continuing to ma******te.

Bodies, like anything else, change so much through our lives.
Puberty, pregnancy, perimenopause - it all comes with new features to discover and work with. Some changes are harder than others, but on this Monday morning we'd like to take a moment to say:

Radical self-acceptance is the most fantastic thing you could work on.

What's the most punk rock thing you've accepted about yourself?

NEW EPISODE! We thought this would be a quick lil episode, but it turned into our first ever two parter! This week on Part 1, we're talking about the how's and the why's of l***aplasty and other procedures like it.

TRIGGER WARNING, this episode contains a lot of topics and language that may be difficult for some. Full trigger warning is at the top of the show, but this one was hard even for us. We hope you'll join us for part two next week as well if you can, but we love and appreciate you regardless!

Going down a rabbit hole of comparison culture leading to drastic measures this week.

Barbie, hair removal, p**n, the internet in general - has it ever made you question if you were "normal"? It did to 12,000 Americans in 2016 who had a surgery called l***aplasty, which alters the l***a minora and/or majora (inner and outer vaginal "lips"). Out of those 12,000, 5% were under the age of 16 (that's 500 people in case you're wondering).

There are some l***aplasty procedures that are done out of medical necessity, but since 2016 this surgery has steadily risen by about 14% every year. It's highly doubtful that this increase is made up of necessary surgeries.

No two v***as, labium, vaginas look the same. This body part is not be a problem to be solved. Tell the young'uns.

NEW EPISODE! The thing EVERYONE has heard about - PMS (premenstrual syndrome), but turns out no one really understands. This week Sara details what we do know along with giving footnotes on PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) and PME (premenstrual exacerbation), while Raven breaks down the long, historic myth of the irrational female.

Both of us had revelations about our own internalized misogyny and kindly hold out a hand to invite y'all to do the same.

Bonus points if you can guess the film this photo is from!

NEW EPISODE! Today on the pod tells us what it's like to have your period for over 800 days due to a condition called menometrorrhagia. From doctor hopping across State lines to constantly explaining why it's a no to birth control, get ready to go on a gaslit journey.

This episode is intense and intensely relatable for so many menstruators who struggle with being heard long enough to get an effective treatment plan - especially one that doesn't involve hormonal birth control.

NEW EPISODE! Today we're talking about our first cycle after round one of the COVID vaccine with very special guest, Sonja Ingi. Sonja is WSM's editor and happens to have endometriosis. She had an interesting enough experience for us to coax her in front of the microphone.

This is a touchy subject for a lot of people and we would like to clarify that we are NOT anti-vaxxers, we just thought it was interesting that so many people's cycles were effected, but there was no warning or info regarding this in the side effect and aftercare pamphlets.

Please get the jab and stay safe, it ain't over yet!

A side effect of the birth control shot, Depo Provera, is "mood changes". A personal account we recently heard with someone who was on the shot for their endometriosis for over a year said she "didn't really have feelings" that whole time.

In addition to being a contraceptive, Depo Provera is also used in the chemical castration of s*x offenders because it removes desire. No more feelings.
