Many feminists have many feelings on the subject of shape wear. Personally, we’ve arrived at - if it feels good to you do it. If it feels good to you to snatch your waist under a dress for a night out, do it. If it feels good to you put on bike shorts that are going to lift your butt cheeks, do it.
BUT, remember that these things and the looks they achieve are performance, and treat them accordingly.
If you followed that finger then you’ve seen proof that the body being sold to us is not real, it’s an illusion, which ironically is the exact purpose of shape wear.
@skims makes garments designed to push and pull you into a desired shape, but now it seems the message is that you should already be that shape before you put on a waist trainer.
Be kind to yourself and your body. Remember that the fashion and beauty industries make billions of dollars every year off the skin, the bodies and the attitudes they shame.
