Our last episode for the season is NOW available on YouTube!!! Make sure you check it out for a story I am 99.9% sure you never heard of.

This week we are looking into a very interesting and not so well-known story from Maine history, the Lost Town of Atusville.

Dr. Marcus LiBrizzi, Professor of English at the University of Maine at Machias and the author of the synonymous book Lost Atusville: A Black Settlement in Maine from the American Revolution, unearths the story of a tiny community on the outskirts of a small town in Maine.

Atusville has a fascinating story, from the black slaves that created it, their involvement during the American Revolution, the racism, segregation, survival and the thirst for freedom, the Civil War and the involvement in the Underground Railroad, the course of Atusville's history is a microcosm of early America and all of the ideas that it represents.

In this interview with Dr. LiBrizzi we are discovering and learning about all of these interesting facts and stories and we are sharing with all of you a part of our nations history that has been unknown for a very long time.

Hey friends, stay tuned this upcoming Saturday May 2nd at 4pm for our last History Hour Episode for Spring 2020.
Our last episode is on Lost Atusville: A Black Settlement in Maine from the American Revolution, with Dr. Marcus LiBrizzi from the University of Maine at Machias and the author of the synonymous book Lost Atusville.
Trust me when I say you don't want to miss this episode!!! Dr. LiBrizzi and I had an amazing conversation about the town of Atusville in the Machias area, and we uncover stories from the American Revolution and the beginning of Atusville as a Black Settlement of slaves, their insolvent in both the American Revolution, Civil War, and even the Underground Railroad. Stories of Injustice, segregation, freedom, and independence all in one small town in Southeast Maine.

I am super excited to share this story with you all and please make sure you share it with your friends too.
