This should help to slow down Froppy! However, Lashing and Amphibious will effect a lot of other decks as well. In addition, Jiro won't automatically take Tsu's place as top deck with the ban hammer striking down Unwavering Slash.
All around good stuff for the health of the game!
Greetings, Heroes!
Today we'd like to announce an update to the Banned & Errata Card List with 3 new additions, effective August 19, 2022:
[BANNED] MHA01 096 - Unwavering Slash
[BANNED] MHA01 166 - Frog Lashing
[BANNED] MHA01 168 - Amphibious
The rise of the Life Tsuyu Asui (I) decks has pushed the Character as an outlier against other top contender decks in the format. Our decision was made as a combination of the decks consistency in executing a turn 2 lethal game plan, the results of the deck in competitive play and the solitaire style gameplay pattern that the deck employs. 'Frog Lashing' & 'Amphibious' provide above bar value for their costs, often netting you ahead in terms of game value when being played. The impacts of those cards have made waves across multiple deck archetypes, not solely Tsuyu Asui (I), and as such banning these specific cards should rein in the power level of Tsuyu Asui (I) decks without removing her from the format completely, while also stabilizing the impact these cards had on the format as a whole. The team however will keep a watchful eye on the format, and if Tsuyu Asui (I) deems to be unhealthy for the format beyond these changes, further action will be taken against the character and her kit.
In a similar vein, 'Unwavering Slash' is a card that accrues a large amount of value currently in the game and imposes game design restrictions with future sets. We feel strongly that taking a proactive approach to what will likely be outlier strong competitive decks of the format will lend to a healthier, more diverse meta.
The health and balance of the game is one of our top priorities and we are committed to making changes as is necessary to make the game as enjoyable as possible. We'll be releasing more insight in regards to these decisions in developer blog posts in the near future.
Thank you for your continued support of the My Hero Academia CCG.
