ALIJOMA TO LAUNCH AHEAD OF CHRISTMAS

Juba Tuesday 12, December 2023.

In a statement posted on his social media handle the sensational artist said "Me and my management ( Toplev Music ) are delighted to announce the official release of "MY YEAR ALBUM". The launch is set to happen at Imperial Plaza on 22.Dec.2023 he adds.

A press release by TOPLEV MUSIC says the album incorporates easy listening and learning saying it is will stir imagination and sense of mystery as it is sung from the soul to change lives.

The 16 tracked album according to TOPLEV was recorded between January and November this year including the Saluk and Happiness tracks among others.

ALIJOMA is one of the fastest rising South Sudanese artist currently in the industry.

UPDATE: Fans and South Sudanese have mixed emotions after Dj-Cent Mr No Rest, a South Sudanese musician, was hauled off stage during King Saha's music concert in Uganda. Following this incident, Cent posted on his page, alleging that he had been booked to sing throughout the performance on the stage from which he was ruthlessly removed.

Gola Boyoi Gola Posted on his Facebook and changed his profile to read as "Former Chairman, South Sudan National Youth Union"

This comes after spending four years at the helm since being elected to power in 2019.

The South Sudan National Youth Union constitution sets the term limit to four years.

Gola is expected to address the media this afternoon in Juba to announce the way forward.

DJ CENT MANHANDLED IN UGANDA

Sunday, December 10, 2023.

Over the weekend the Best Life Government (BLG) self proclaimed big star, DJ cent faced it rough at King Saha's show held at hotel Africana in Uganda.

A video posted online showed the In law hit maker being thrown out of after trying to access the stage through the side of the DJ.

The bouncers can be seen pushing and pulling the light weight artist without mercy.
In what seems an attempt to get on stage and perform at the show, sources say the artist may have paid money to some person's who promised him a chance to get on stage a deal that turned futile.

The Uganda vs. South Sudan match at the 13th EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games in Kigali has been called off. This is after South Sudan accused Uganda of not verifying some players and failing to prove that they were MPs.

Inter Parliamentary games are annual activities by the EAC that brings together members of Parliament, last year it was held in Juba South Sudan.

UPDATE: YEI DAY SECONDARY SCHOOL STRIKES OVER EXAMS HARDSHIP
According to some sources, Yei day secondary school students went on strike due to exam difficulties, but the police patrol and military police replied by restoring order and forcing the students back into the examination room by firing in the air.

REGENCY HOTEL REFUTES ALLEGATIONS OF POOR WASTE MANAGEMENT.

Juba, December 07, 2023.

Following the report of the Juba City Council which reportedly resulted to the charging of USD 20,000 for poor waste management and environmental pollution, the hotel management have responded thrashing the findings of the city council authorities.

According to the Hotel they adhere to regulations, standards and ethics parallel to what has been painted to the public in the recent media publication.

Juba City Council has in the recent past charged several hotels and apartments for poor waste management and environmental pollution especially those hotels located along the bank of the River Nile. The hotels are accused by the public and authorities of dumping and letting their drainage and sewage directly into the Nile .

MINISTER CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE BAN AND STRINGENT MEASURES ON ILLICIT ALCOHOL.

Addressing concerns at the recently concluded 7th Governors forum Hon. Michael Makuei Minister of Information, Communication, Technology and Postal Services said the Alcohol now dubbed "Micheal Makuei" was destroying the lives and ruining the future of Citizens

According to Makuei the alcohol despite being banned by a local order issued by the Government of Central Equatoria State, it is still being sold in the market. He says the alcohol is dangerous and harmful to human health given that it s production is unregulated, he called on immediate ban of the alcohol including withdrawal of licenses from it's manufacturers.

At least 44,991 students are sitting for the South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education SSCSE, the National Examination council says the exams are being taken in all parts of the country and denied reports that the exams have been leaked.

The Secretary General of the council confirmed to the media that the Examination council together with the Ministry of General Education and other institutions including security agencies have taken stringent measures to curb malpractice.

UGANDAN MUSIC PUSHES FOR COPYRIGHTS & NEIGHBORING RIGHTS ACT 2006.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni met with Eddy Kenzo, the chairperson of the Uganda Music Association (UMA), to discuss the next steps in the music industry's reform. The Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act of 2006 is scheduled to be amended.

"In the quest for streamlining our industry and lobbing for a well functioning Music industry, today i met my Mzee H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and we discussed the urgent need for the amendment of the Copyright & Neighboring Rights Act 2006."

During their conversation, they observed a desire for action on the matter.
"It was a great discussion in which he promised to follow into the matter with the urgency it requires."

"He also accepted my request for a meeting to introduce to him the Uganda National Musicians Federation Leadership and how far we have gone as a federation in building national structures for a more inclusive and vibrant Music industry."

The rights of authors of literary, musical, and creative works are mainly protected by copyright; however, the interests of some contributors to the music and broadcasting industries, including performers, phonogram (sound recording) producers, and broadcasting organisations, are also protected by adjacent rights.

HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN & YOUTH JOIN WORLD CHILDREN'S DAY RUN TO END CHILD MARRIAGE

The Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, and partners joined hundreds of children and young people today to mark World Children's Day for a run to raise awareness to end child marriage in the country.

A mass of runners and walkers, clad in vibrant shades of World Children’s Day blue, looped around Juba’s streets and finished at the Dr. John Garang Mausoleum for continued celebrations today in Juba.

This event underlines the country’s commitment to ending child marriage and supports the broader campaign to protect children's rights in South Sudan.

Randa Wani, UNICEF Young Reporter, said "Running is one exercise that requires determination to win, so as l participate in this fun run, l am determined to put in all my efforts to end child marriage in South Sudan. And as a girl who has experienced the privileges of being in school, I am running not just for myself, but I wish for every girl to enjoy their childhood and pursue the dreams they have for the future."

Child marriage in South Sudan is a serious issue, with over half of all girls married before the age of 18, leading to severe implications for their health, education, and future opportunities. The legal system's current ambiguity and lack of enforcement, compounded by cultural norms and poverty, exacerbate the situation, making it a critical area of focus for change.

"Our nation's prosperity lies in the well-being of our children. Let us pave the way for a society that protects our children and ensure they reach their full potential. We must all work together to change our societal attitudes as well as policy and implementation to end child marriage,” said the Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, Hon. Ayaa Benjamin Warille.

Through the run and accompanying national advocacy efforts, UNICEF with the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, and partners aims to shift social norms and foster community dialogue around the practice of child marriage. UNICEF's collaboration with the Government, aims at the shared vision of eradicating child marriage by 2030.

Hamida Lasseko, UNICEF Representative in South Sudan said, "We must address the issue of child marriage head-on. This requires a multifaceted approach that tackles the legal, cultural, and economic factors that contribute to this issue. We must all come together to end this practice and ensure young girls and boys are given the opportunities they deserve. They should be in school, playing with their friends and allowed to have a normal childhood. Not married.”

The World Children’s Day run is part of UNICEF South Sudan's broader campaign to end child marriage, through community engagement, advocacy efforts, and partnerships – at all levels. The goal is to advance efforts to enforce the legal marriage age, boost education and health for girls, and mobilize public and leadership support to eradicate this harmful practice.

PRESIDENT KIIR MEETS SUDANESE FORCES OF FREEDOM AND CHANGE DELEGATION

Juba, 22nd November 2023- President Kiir on Wednesday met with Forces of Freedom and Change, FFC delegation led by Omer Eldigair to discuss the Sudanese crisis and possible solutions to resolve the conflict.

The Delegation appealed to President kiir to double his efforts of mediating peace in Sudan due to his vast knowledge and relationship with Sudanese leaders.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Sadiq El Mahadi said President Kiir is going to bring all the warring factions together.

The meeting centred on mechanisms of ending the war based on “the outcomes of the Cairo Summit,” and the steps to unify the political and civil forces in Khartoum.

They also discussed initiatives proposed by neighboring countries to stop the war in Sudan.

The Secretary of the Sudan Peace Mediation Committee, Dr. Dhieu Mathok said President Kiir is making unremitting efforts to find a lasting political solution to the Sudanese crisis.
