Things are starting to take shape - let's go!
Alex Kenny, who had no choice but to sleep rough for three months after he was evicted due to no fault of his own, has got together with friend Jesse Manaton, to raise money for our services by organising a Drum and Bass night at Exeter’s Quay, on Friday 31 May.
It’s the third Drum and Bass night organised by the pair, who have already raised a whopping £700 at their previous events!
Jesse, who has also been homeless previously, sleeping in his car said: “I understand the profound impact homelessness has on individuals and our community here in Exeter.
“Without the support of local charities, I wouldn’t have been able to find stable housing. I’m incredibly grateful for the help I received, and I’m deeply passionate about giving back. That’s why I’m thrilled to fundraise for St Petrock’s and make this event a success, ensuring that others receive the same vital support and resources that helped me get back on my feet.”
“I know first-hand how crucial this support is, especially given the current situation in Exeter, and I’m excited to help make a difference.
Alex added: “Sleeping rough was cold and lonely and I felt very lost. I know how it feels to be homeless, so I want to do what I can to help others.”
A MASSIVE thank you to Jesse and Alex for all their hard work to fundraise for us. Their support is especially moving for us as they have both clearly overcome their own significant personal hardships to get to the stage where they're happy and settled enough to be able to help us.
The event takes place at Move Nightclub, The Quay, on Friday 31 May, 10pm to 3am.
