We donโt often think about our community or actively try to curate it, but itโs important to check in with ourselves about how weโre feeling not just about the people in our life, but also the role that they play.

Community Mapping: to get a better picture of the people in your life try creating a map for yourself. Put yourself in the middle and then write down the different communities of people youโre surrounded by (like your work friends, family, yoga pals, hobby buddies, etc.). You can even alter the size of the circles based on how much time each group takes up in your life. When your map is finished ask yourself, is this a well rounded support circle?Is it balanced or are there gaps in support? What changes do I want to make? Take a moment to write down all the things (or people) making you feel overwhelmed. Does everything on this list need to be tackled immediately or can some things wait? Do you need to take a break from someone in your life in order to give yourself the care your emotions are crying out for? After writing down your list, make a second list of things that can wait until youโre in the right headspace to take them on.

Often we can find ourselves carrying old emotional baggage from past events. Sometimes those emotions can be stored as memories in our bodies and a conversation or interaction with someone can trigger those old emotions. In that moment, we can lose our ability to be in the present moment with that other person. Logic and reason can fly out the window as we replay past events as though they are what is happening now, even though its not. Some tricks to remind ourselves of being in the present moment is to re-center, take a deep breath, a walk, look at the scenery and feel the sensations of the world around us. This will allow us to ground, and come back to our true, loving selves.
