Our next meme is from the page 'Screenshots With or Without Context,' which is actually quite funny most of the time. The implication here is that 78% of slave owners [in the US] were Jewish (year/date not given).
This ties in with the belief held by some white supremacists/idiots that only ~1% of whites owned slaves. Of course, that is only vaguely accurate if you're counting individuals, and include northerners, women, and children, which only an extremely dishonest and/or stupid person would do (see also: White Nationalism). Going by 'white households in slave states' around 1 in 3 held slaves, and regionally, this could be much higher. For example, there were almost no slaves in Western Virginia, but along the banks of the Mississippi, a majority of families owned at least one slave. It should also be pointed out that families with no slaves could still rent slaves out, and often did.
The total number of Jews in the South in 1860 (their peak) was a few tens of thousands in a few hundred families. Even if every single Jewish family owned slaves, they couldn't possibly have been more than 1% of the slaveowners.
Furthermore, the 100 'top' slave-owners (by number of slaves held) were all white Christians.
That said, the Jews that *were* in the South absolutely engaged in the slave trade, and fought for the Confederacy. There are even memorials to Jewish war dead in a couple of old Southern synagogues. The most famous example of a Confederate Jew is Judah P. Benjamin, Confederate cabinet officer. The Southern Jews were definitely guilty of slavery. But the idea here is to exculpate whites from the crimes of their ancestors (nb: I don't believe you can be guilty of anything your ancestors did) by blaming the Juice for everything, which is, simply put, a lie.
It also ignores the fact that by far the largest slave economies in the New World (yes, not the USA) had no or almost no Jews due to the prohibitions of the Inquisitions (Brazil, Cuba) until very recently (1824 in Brazil's case), although some smaller Dutch and British slave economies had larger Jewish populations, although slavery was banned there decades before it was banned in America.
Of course, WNs really *want* to believe this lie, so when they see it on a picture on feisbuk they immediately swallow it.
Incidentally, in the comments on this thread, some people referenced the idea that blacks were more likely to be slave-owners than whites. This is exceptionally dishonest, because it compares the 'percentage of coloured families in New Orleans who owned slaves' to the 'percentage of white *individuals* in the *entirety of the USA* who owned slaves.' I won't go into this in too much detail because it's not in the remit of my page, but basically, because of the French system of placage, many New Orleans part-blacks *did* own slaves, but not in greater numbers than their white counterparts, and New Orleans was an anomaly anyhow.
