This is incredibly dangerous, no one should be jailed for more than two years for shouting at police.

This is what happens in communist China and Putin’s Russia.

Steven Mailen is the first person to be sentenced in Teesside for his involvement in the violent disorder that took place in Hartlepool on Wednesday 31st July. Judge Laird jailed him for 26 months. The 53-year-old was constantly in the face of officers, gesticulating and shouting at them when he chose to take part in the large-scale disorder.

It’s election day! Polls open at 7AM. Don’t forget to take ID.

I’m out with my team early doors, delivering some last minute leaflets (and trying not to wake up any dogs) before people head out to work.

We can’t have Anna Turkey Turley back as our MP!!

📰 WHICH HEADLINE DO YOU WANT TO WAKE UP TO ON FRIDAY?

In Redcar & Cleveland it’s a two horse race between the Conservatives and Labour. A vote for any other party will make it more likely that Anna Turley is re-elected as our MP.

I know people are tempted by parties like Reform, however they won’t win here - the outcome of this election will be decided by just a handful of votes between me and the Labour Party.

Don’t wake up on Friday morning and regret who you voted for. Your vote could be the one that makes the difference between keeping me, or going back to having Anna Turley.

If you think I’ve been a good MP, vote for me to carry on. 🗳️

We are surrounded by NIMBY’s! Let’s get building! A few extra cars on the road won’t make a difference.

Let’s think about the local economy, jobs created building the houses, more residents who will use pubs and shops and the derelict Normanby Hall brought back to life! What’s not to love?

🚧 Normanby Top - Roadworks Update 🚧

From Monday 3rd June, the start of the road resurfacing works is to begin with a noticeable change of the roads open/closed.

- West Street will remain open.
- Cleveland street will be closed as it was before with no through traffic through the estate.
- Right turn only out of the Clive Road Estate as the high street gets resurfaced first.

There will be a single file, 2 way traffic light🚦in operation and if you’re coming up Normanby road, you will only be able to turn right and if coming from Ormesby you will be able to turn right up West Street or left at the lights. No through road towards Eston with that road being closed.

Please avoid the area if you can and use Jubilee Road and go through Eston like before. There will be a lot less traffic able to get through the lights so please bare that in mind when planning your journey through this area.

The week after it will be all change again as another section is resurfaced and finished off for a full re-opening at some point in June.

🚌 Flatts Lane Bus Stop Update 🚌

A few people have been in touch with regards to getting a new shelter for the bus stop on Flatts Lane. The former one was damaged in an accident, and sadly it's never been replaced.

I got in touch with the Council with regards to a replacement, and it has now been added to a list of bus stops needing shelters. Beforehand, it wasn't lined up to get a new one.

Unfortunately, right now we don't have a timeline on when the new shelter will be installed. There's quite a few parties involved; R&C Council, the Tees Valley Combined Authority, and Clear Channel (an advertising firm). Hopefully, in the coming months we'll have another update to give on when we can expect to have a new shelter.

Thanks
Cllr Curt Pugh

🚨Please share: 14 year of boy robbed at knifepoint at Flatts Lane

Cleveland Police is appealing for information or any witnesses after a 14-year-old boy was robbed at knifepoint in Normanby.

The incident occurred at around 3.10pm on Tuesday 9th April between Ormesby Road and Flatts Lane in Normanby when the victim was riding his bicycle.

It was reported that three men, who were dressed in dark clothing and wore face coverings, approached the victim on the cycle path that runs from the Poverina pub to Flatts Lane.

The suspects then threatened the victim and forced him to hand over his bicycle before leaving the scene.

Thankfully, the victim was not harmed but was left shaken by the incident.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information or any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting reference number 064316.

Footage can be uploaded here: https://orlo.uk/bV4fs

Lots of people don't realise that Mayors have the power to raise taxes through a precept. Ben pledged in 2017 to never charge a Mayoral Precept, and he's stuck to that pledge.

But, Labour Mayors around the country charge a Mayoral Precept. For Labour's Tees Valley candidate to deliver on his unfunded pledges, he would HAVE to implement a tax, costing you £225 more a year.

Back Ben on May 2nd.

🚨Labour's Mayoral TAX BOMBSHELL would cost YOU over £225 extra per year! 💸

While we're all trying to manage our budgets, Labour's candidate for Tees Valley Mayor proposes a MASSIVE tax increase to deliver his unfunded promise to bring buses back into public control. We’ve run the numbers on what that would cost.

There’s no revenue funding for running bus services available to Mayors. So the only way he could do this would be to follow the example of other Labour Mayors and charge a precept on your council tax bill.

Ben has always been clear he will NEVER introduce a Mayoral tax.

We believe in keeping money in your pockets, not taking it away.

Support Ben Houchen - Tees Valley Mayor and say NO to Labour's tax bombshell!

Back Ben on May 2.
