Thank you Laura F. Keyes for that terrific presentation as Laura Ingalls Wilder writing a letter to her daughter Rose about the hard winter from her childhood. That was an excellent reminiscence and very interesting to hear more about it from her perspective - also timely to consider the family's situation during the blizzard as very similar to our current pandemic!!

12/02/2021

_The Long Winter_ by Laura Ingalls Wilder tells the story of her family surviving a horrific 8-month-long ordeal of blizzards, deprivation, and isolation in the winter of 1880-1881 on the sparsely inhabited Dakota Territory. Their story is one of perseverance and hope. Hear from Mrs. Wilder, as she reflects almost 40 years after those events, and shares what lessons she learned from that Hard Winter. These are feelings we can all relate to, perhaps now more than ever: dealing with uncertainty, social isolation, and anxiety about the future.

Who and what is Living History Live?

Living History Live is a project run by three dedicated Living Historians. In strange times such as these, where we are cut off from our hobby, we are offering a free platform to other Living Historians to present their eras and impressions in an educational way, with live Q&A sessions.
