A Chronicle of Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo's Community Development Projects in Aguata/Anambra State

In accord with our frequent affirmations that we would collectively go places to secure peace, progress and prosperity for the great people of Aguata, we are now moving beyond APGA and PDP to explore....

In APC, we found a resourceful youth full of positive vibes and vigour, educated, visionary, selfless, kind, vibrant and most accessible.

Young, dynamic, popular and visionary, the charismatic Johnbosco Onunkwo needs no introduction anywhere in Anambra State. A two-time guber aspirant, quintessential philanthropist and a reputable humanitarian who has touched many lives, his candidature dwarfs the ambition of other candidates vying for the Reps seat and reduces the contest to a two-horse race between him and others.

In spite of the fact that he has not held any elective office, his community development projects through which he positively impacted lives of people in Aguata, the entire Anambra state and beyond have continued to outweigh the constituency projects of many legislators and public office holders.

A youth who has sponsored the educational dreams of young people in Aguata through his back to school project and a pillar of the church who has continued to support the spread of the gospel across various denominations, the Forum of Anambra Youth Organizations came together in 2020 to confer him with the title of Grand Commander of Anambra Youths.

In recognition of his altruistic acts of selflessness, many communities and traditional institutions in Anambra State have bestowed him with 23 honorific investitures. While Aguluezechukwu community awarded a leadership excellence award, Ekwulobia community conferred him with the title of OzoIgbondu I of Ekwulobia and Ekwueme of Umuchiana. Umuchu community bestowed him with the title of Akaekpuchionwa. In 2019, South east traditional rulers gathered at Igboukwu to confer him with the title of Aha Eji Eje Mba I of Igboland.

*Humanitarian/Philanthropic Activities*

✓In 2015, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo founded a humanitarian NGO, Johnbosco Onunkwo Foundation which operates under four critical areas: health, education, youth empowerment, community development services.

Education

✓Launched 'back to school' project during which learning materials and school fees were given and paid for indigent pupils in rural Anambra communities.

✓Awarded scholarships to indigent students from Aguata Local Government Area during the New Conversation I in 2018.

*Health*

✓Carried out free medical outreach in all the 14 towns in Aguata and Anambra State.

During the free medical outreach, free eye glasses were given, blood pressure kits were given, drugs were donated and cataract surgeries were also performed. Blood sugar tests were equally carried out and drugs were given.

✓Built and fully equipped a hospital for the rural populace in Umuchu, Aguata LGA in order to bring medical care closer to the people.

✓Donated medical and laboratory equipment for best practices to Igboukwu community health centre.

✓Donated and fully equipped a sickle cell home for children living with sickle cell disorder in Agulu, Anambra State.

✓Donated covid-19 protective kits and relief funds to 500 indigent families in Anambra during covid-19 pandemic and lockdown.

✓Donated to the building of Umuchiana Community Health Centre

*Youth Empowerment*
✓Empowered 50 Anambra youths from Aguata and the 21 local government areas in Anambra State during the launch of the New Conversation 1&2 in 2018 & 2019.

✓Initiated and Sponsored the Aguata Football Championship with financial rewards for the winners and consolation prizes for losers.

*Community Development Services*

✓Built and fully equipped a music edifice at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha in order to harness the musical talents of young adults in Onitsha and environs who wish to pursue a career in music, thereby taking them off the streets for productive engagement.

✓Built a bus station at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

✓Endowed the University with N5m research grant in 2019.

✓Developed an agric farm project at Orumba North and South LGAs to help cooperative society farmers aggregate crop production for agro-allied industries.

✓Built a lawn tennis premier court at Amawbia, Awka South LGA.

✓Donated fire extinguishers and money to Ochanja Market, Onitsha during fire outbreak.

✓Built and fully equipped a hospital at Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area

IFEDICHE AGUATA: Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo Hosts Aguata Football Championship

We cordially invite the good people of Aguata and the general public to join us today at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Umuchu as High Chief Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo (Akaekpuchionwa Umuchu), the main candidate for the House of Representatives, Aguata Federal Constituency, kicks off the maiden edition of Aguata Football Championship today at 3pm prompt.

This is one of the many social interventions of High Chief Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, the Grand Commander of Anambra Youths and quintessential humanitarian whose passion for youth empowerment and development has spurred him once again to sponsor this initiative in order to productively engage the youthful population of Aguata and harness the talents of youths in the constituency.

The winner of the football championship single-handedly sponsored by High Chief Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo will go home with the sum of N600,000 while the second runner-up goes home with N300,000. Third position goes with N150,000 while the fourth takes home N50,000. Other consolation prizes to be given at the end of the competition.

National Honours: Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo Congratulates Chief Sir James Uzochukwu Uduji (KSC) & Dame Adaora Umeoji, PhD

THE candidate of the All Progressives Congress for House of Representatives, Aguata Federal Constituency, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo has warmly congratulated Chief Sir James Uzochukwu Uduji (Gburugburu Aguata, KSC) and Dame Adaora Umeoji, PhD on their conferment with the Nation Honours Award of the Officer of the Order of the Niger by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR).

Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo Charges Nigerian Youths on Peace and Unity of Interest Ahead of 2023 Polls

Anambra humanitarian, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo has admonished the youths to eschew actions and speeches capable of heating up the polity and undermining peace ahead of 2023 general elections.

According to him, the general elections will serve as a turning point for youths in Nigeria to claim their much anticipated place in the governance of the country.

The Aguata-born philanthropist, businessman and politician has advised young Nigerians to resist inducements from politicians which will further mortgage their future. Specifically, he spelt out the need for young Nigerians to collectively pursue credibility and positive transformation.

"I have never been more proud of any generation of Nigerian youths much more than the present-day youths. On the streets, in offices, business places, and social media particularly, I have been seeing recurrent political sensitization by youths on the need for eligible Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voters' Card (PVC) ahead of the elections. It is highly commendable, and most importantly creates a ray of hope for the future of our democracy."

"Nevertheless, there is much more to be done. I am beckoning on young Nigerians to employ the same spirit in suing for peace, stability and unity of interest. I am alarmed by the incessant killings and worse still, reports of nepotism and religious intolerance in some parts of the country. This has been one of the biggest enemies of our nation's emancipation. We must brace up," he added.

Recall that the Founder of Johnbosco Onunkwo Foundation, Engr. Onunkwo took out time last week to commend the youths on their proactive efforts towards obtaining their PVCs. Engr. Onunkwo has always demonstrated tireless drive for youth empowerment especially in Anambra State.

The popular philanthropist has also notably charged youths in Anambra State to shun violence and embrace peace. He added further that they must see the stability of the state as their contributive onus and not just an obligation to be fulfilled by the government of the day alone. He said, "if the society fails, then we have failed too. We are the society and the government. "

Today reminds us of the great and selfless services from real fathers. I salute all real and hardworking fathers who toil day and night to ensure those put under their care got the best.

Fathers are often referred to as pillars of the family with regard to their commitment to providing and serving as a shield for the family.

Though, oftentimes our disciplinary actions are misunderstood at tender ages but are tailored to yield and bear the much-needed fruits.

I encourage you on this auspicious day not to relent in your roles as formators but rather remain resolute in giving your best to your family.

We must remain firm in our quest in building a society that our children will enjoy. If we don't stand for the right, tomorrow will remain gloomy for our children.

May God bless and keep all fathers to reap the fruits of their hustle and bustle.

Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo Lauds Nigerian Youths over their Resilience Towards Obtaining their Permanent Voters' Card (PVC) Ahead of 2023 General Elections

Anambra philanthropist, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo has expressed utmost joy and fulfillment over the efforts of Nigerians, especially the youths, in amassing the spirit to participate in the political process. This, according to him, validates the highly apotheosized tag for "Youth O'Clock".

Engr. Onunkwo, a young, revolutionary politician has encouraged youths to keep the fire burning in restoration of true democracy and protection of their political mandate. He further beckoned on the youths to follow suit and consolidate the efforts of the willing populace in restoring faith in the electoral process.

"I am happy to see young Nigerians doing the needful. When you feel you cannot or will not affect the politics of your state positively, the politics of your state will in turn, affect you negatively. We must stand up on our feet to reclaim our mandate, " he said.

"I commend youths of our time for their show of doggedness towards the forthcoming elections. I also charge those who are lagging behind to follow suit, just as we know that elections are neither won on social media nor in churches and mosques. We must all brace up to ensure good governance."

The Founder of Johnbosco Onunkwo Foundation has been a lover of youths as demonstrated in his launching of THE NEW CONVERSATION for youths (I) & (II) in 2017 & 2019 respectively. He has also notably empowered thousands of Anambra youths in areas such as entrepreneurship & skill acquisition, education, sports, entertainment, employment opportunities and agriculture. This led to his recognition in December 2020 as the Grand Commander of Anambra Youths by 25 Youth Bodies across different Christian religious denominations in the state.

Engr. Onunkwo's giant philanthropic strides have earned him numerous honorary investitures across many communities in Anambra State as well as honorary awards in recognition of his unflinching support towards individuals, institutions, communities, and many more.

New Year Message: Make Life easy for One Another, Be your Brother's Keeper

In life, we either create or destroy, cause problems or initiate solutions. What we make of life is up to each and everyone of us. Imagine how pure, how peaceful, how magnificent our society would be when we practice love, when we cease to make life difficult for our neighbours, for our fellow humans.

In this new year of 2022, do not take anyone for granted, for everyone is special in the unique way that God created him or her. Let's accept human differences and limitations and tolerate one another, for no one is perfect.

Imagine how sweet life would be if the next person around us is not creating problems but rather contributing solutions to problems yet undiscovered. This is the kind of state we want for our people, a community led by love for one another, where decisions are made after putting the next person into consideration.

Life would be a lot better and a lot easier for everyone, both the rich and the poor, if we cease to make life difficult for one another.

Kindness is a great virtue that never goes without divine reward. Show kindness to people more often than you can remember. The more you give, the more you shall receive. Therefore, let's love our neighbours as we love ourselves.

Dear friends,

Today is the 46th birthday of an iconic leader and quintessential humanitarian, in the person of Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo (AkaekpuchiOnwa Umuchu).

Birthday celebrations are such days when we reflect on our life journey and enquire if we are truly paying the rent for living on earth or go further as Jesus asked, to ask " Who do people say I am?"

Engr. Johnbosco has been a unifier, a progressive who understands friendship, loyalty and respect. Ever cheerful, one wonders if he ever gets angry. He is an exceptional humanitarian who knows no societal class; he overlooks barriers to network with those who others might consider lepers and worthless. A very kind, humble and dependable individual.

At 46, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo has paid his rent of living on earth as if he were 200 years of age. He has bequeathed to humanity a heart of gold and given the weak a chance to smile. To the sick, he became a doctor, to the poor he made rich. AkaekpuchiOnwa is an all-round performer whose legacies will outlive him.

Today, we celebrate you, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, your giant strides, humility and purposeful living. At 46, you're just beginning. You will conquer and your fame will reverberate across the universe.

RE: Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo Not Supporting APGA

It has come to the notice of Johnbosco Onunkwo Media Centre that an idle mind has taken to social media to ridicule the good name of Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, a loyal APC chieftain who has the interest of his party, APC at heart, by alleging that he is supporting the All Progressives' Grand Alliance, APGA against Anambra guber election slated for November 6, 2021.

This is fake news from the pit of hell intended to cause dissension, ridicule and confusion in Anambra APC and Anambra at large. We implore the public to disregard the peddlers of this falsehood who are understandably seeking cheap attention with the name of Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo.

At no time did Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo drum support for APGA or show interest in joining APGA. The reading public should take caution to ignore these pedestrian merchants who are out to mislead Anambrarians.
