Two years ago the siege of Mariupol ended and the city, destroyed, was overpowered. Now Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine is being bombarded. My friends in Edmonton, we have the opportunity this weekend to enjoy a wonderful event of Ukrainian-Canadian arts and culture so please attend UFest Edmonton Ukrainian Festival 2024 and generously donate through the 3 donation boxes on site to help people living in Ukraine 🇺🇦 слава Україні https://www.facebook.com/share/p/iTHP2731baXKQT1b/?mibextid=oFDknk

This year, donations will be accepted for “Firefighter Aid Ukraine” to help with their specific fundraising projects.
🇺🇦 Established in 2014, FFAU has spent nearly a decade working with the State Emergency Services and volunteer brigades in Ukraine, building strong relationships with Kyiv, Lviv, Uzhgorod, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Odessa, Chernivtsi, Dnipro, Cherkasy, Mykolaiv, and Nikopol, and to date has delivered almost 300 tonnes of life rescue and health care aid. FFAU’s will continue to collect critical aid and ship it to the front lines and communities affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Methodology:
In February, while searching for Ukrainian techno artists to build a showcase set, I found this amazing project, Shum.Rave (noise.rave) Д​р​у​з​і (Friends) born out of the destruction of the most recent invasion of Ukraine. In that, was one particular track, "Mariupol (23)" Decorodi, named for the city, one of the first to be bombarded, destroyed and captured in the early days of 2022. I expected the song to sound one way and it surprised me by sounding completely different. It was so powerful, it moved me so much I could not get it out of my head. I started building a whole dj set around it.
Here are my set notes if you are interested in my process.
There are places in the set where i hope the listener is surprised, taken out of the flow.
Opening tracks by Ukranian artists Xenia (UA), Voin Oruwu, and Decorodi, were chosen to reflect the new year 2022. Cautious optimism. Will The World let this happen?
Russian Roulette. What happens when absolute power goes unchecked? Notice the transition here.
Corruption in even our most sacred spaces.
War and all that comes with it The Devil's Playground,
"Passive Submission" to the war machine of profit.
It's up to all of us to stop it.
