My life got bigger after the leaked tape - Oxlade

Nigerian musician Oxlade says the decision to give his created song, ‘Non-living Thing’, to rapper Sarkodie is one of the best moves he has ever made in his music career.
Speaking to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, the singer narrated that he gave the song to Sarkodie because the rapper had also given a song in the past.

“I was the one who told him that I had a song for him. It was supposed to be on my project. It’s a record I created and I said that this song is meant for Sark. I knew in my heart that the song was meant to be for him. I sang it for him after we did ‘Overdose’.
"He came to Lagos to do promo and I played it for him and he was like, 'yeah let’s do this.' After we shot the video the song became one of the biggest songs. I feel like that is one of the best moves I've ever made,” he said on Hitz FM.

Oxlade also noted that for him to feature on a song, he has to connect both with the music and the artiste as well.
He referred to the kind of relationship he recently built with musician Darkovibes.

According to him, they both have a very good relationship which goes beyond just music

“Me and Darkovibes now go beyond music. After the music, the human comes in.”
He also added that he does not focus on money when doing features. However, he admitted that sometimes it is just right that he survives on his full-time job, which is doing music.
“I don’t do features for money. I feel like the quality of the music and the person surpass any networth. But the game is the game and Daddy and Mommy gotta eat.”

Non-Living Thing is a song that features on Sarkodie’s No Pressure album. The video has raked in over a million views on YouTube since its release in 2021, and over six million streams on Spotify.

People mistake me for Nigerian but I enjoy the attention - Camidoh ..

Ghanaian singer and sugarcane hitmaker, Camidoh has explained people label him as a Nigerian other than Ghana because of how he sounds, his style, and his vibe.

“People still think I’m Nigerian. Some think I’m Kenyan, but I feel like it’s cool. It’s okay because, the fact that they even look at you or study you and think a certain thing about you, it feels like you have their attention. It feels like people love you and that is the only reason they speculate. So it’s fine.”

The ‘Sugarcane’ hitmaker also spoke on his topic choice when making songs, he noted that some song topics aren't his thing although people, including his mother, have asked him to make songs addressing social issues like galamsey, he prefers songs about life and love.

According to him, he loves LOVE and life is equally beautiful when you picture it differently with all the good things therefore he likes to talk about those.

“I feel like I make records about life situations and all of that. I remember making a song about how people make decisions. I make all those types of stuff. But developmental, I don’t think I will. I only make songs that I’m inspired to do. And I feel like God puts different agendas in the hearts of different people. So, when I’m blessed with a certain topic, I make it.” he said

Rwandan woman faces two years in jail for 'shameful' dress.

Liliane who is Rwandan was arrested by the country’s police force on 7th August for wearing what has been described as “shameful” clothing. “She faces up to two years in jail for “public indecency“, prosecutors said Thursday, 18th August 2022.

According to news18.com, Liliane Mugabekazi’s August 7th arrest came after she attended a concert by popular French musician Tayc eight days earlier. “She attended the concert while wearing clothes that reveal her private parts… clothes that we call shameful,” prosecutors said, accusing her of committing a “serious crime“.

“It is on these serious grounds that we ask the court to remand Mugabekazi for 30 days. She is suspected to have committed public indecency,” the spokesman for the prosecution, Faustin Nkusi, told AFP and added that the court would announce on Tuesday whether she would receive bail.

The arrest has sparked outrage among across social media but Rwandan government officials including former justice minister Johnston Busingye backed the move.

“The current issue of our young men and women who drink and drug themselves unconscious, appear in public literally naked is objectionable,” tweeted Busingye, who is now Rwanda’s ambassador to Britain.

“I support the efforts… to address it.” Also in a TV interview last week, police spokesman, John Bosco Kabera rebuked what he described as “immorality and indecency among young people”.

“This problem is escalating… you find an individual wearing only a shirt only… without pants or shorts. These people then go to public places dressed like that, with clothes that look like nets,” he continued.

When the TV host asked him if “such people did not have a right to dress as they please,” he replied: “The first right is to dress well, not dressing indecently.”

In recent years many Rwandans have fallen foul of the country’s strict indecency laws. In March this year, police arrested a 20-year-old woman for “public drunkenness and indecent assault” after a video of her lying on the ground in an alcoholic stupor circulated on social media.

Afia Schwarzenegger discloses the cost of her late father’s funeral Celebrities commiserate with Afia Schwarzenegger

Afia Schwarzenegger has expressed her utmost gratitude to Chief of Staff, Mrs. Akosua Frema Osei Opare, for donating GH₵50,000 to her and playing a huge role in transporting her father’s coffin into the country.

In an appreciation post shared on her Instagram page, Afia claimed that Mrs. Frema Osei Opare contributed immensely towards giving her father a befitting burial.

“A good mother who provides for her children. What would I have done without you? Without you, I don’t even know how my father’s coffin would’ve been flown into the country. I’m on my knees and I want to thank you. Thank you, my mother. God bless you…you gave me 50,000 cedis and asked me to inform you about any extra cost…which extra cost after the huge sum you gave me? People said God will bless me for giving my father a befitting burial. I divide such blessings into two and give you half of it.”

Earlier, the controversial comedienne claimed that Fadda Dickson contributed immensely in the GH₵2billion, worth of funeral she organized for her late father.

Afia disclosed that at a point, Fadda Dickson flew a specialist into the country to attend to her late father, whose health deteriorated at that time.

“let’s give honour to whom honour is due. Father Dickson said I shouldn’t announce this but I cannot keep calm. Who should I praise? Patapaa? Or Tornado? When my father was alive, Fadda Dickson footed almost all the expenses. At a point he flew a specialist to Ghana to attend to my dad. He said he’ll do all he can to save my father because he doesn’t want to break my heart.

"Eii Ghanaians, help me thank Fadda Dickson. Where would I have gotten 2 billion cedis, a whopping 2 billion cedis to organize my father’s funeral? I mean where? The whole world tried to break my relationship with Fadda Dickson but it didn’t work,” she earlier stated in a video shared on her Instagram page.

Afia’s late father’s funeral which was held at the KNUST poolside in Kumasi on March 12, 2022, witnessed a host of high-profile dignitaries including politicians and showbiz celebrities.

MUSIGA Elections postponed indefinitely again

The highly anticipated Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) elections scheduled for Wednesday, February 23, 2022 has been postponed indefinitely.

According to the National Elections Committee (NEC) of MUSIGA the second postponement of the elections was due to the difficulty in compiling the voters registers.

A statement signed by the Mr. Peter Marfo, the Chairman of the NEC said: “This is to notify the entire membership of MUSIGA and the general public about the postponement of the upcoming MUSIGA election slated for Wednesday, February, 23, 2022, once again due to the delay in the formation of a Committee to compile the Voters register and the approval of a budget towards the elections.”

The statement added that a new date would be communicated to the membership of the Union when the National Executive Council meets to propose and agree on a date which would allow NEC to have enough time to compile the register which would subsequently be submitted to the Electoral Commision.

“The Election Committee would like to apologize to the Aspirants and members for any inconvenience this decision may have caused. we will continue to ensure that the elections are conducted in a free and fair manner,” the statement said.

The election originally scheduled for January 13, 2022 was postponed to February 23, 2022 to enable enough preparations for the elections of new executives to lead the association for the next four years.

Contesting for President of the Union are, Mr. Bessa Simons (Acting MUSIGA President), Madam Deborah Freeman (General Secretary of MUSIGA), and Ras Caleb Appiah Levi (Greater Accra Regional Chairman for MUSIGA).

I will play any role if it impacts moral of the story – Majid Michel
Award-wining Ghanaian actor Majid Michel
Fri, 4 Feb 2022

Award-wining Ghanaian actor Majid Michel has denied claims that he would no longer play certain roles in movies.

The rumours of rejecting certain movie roles came after Majid turned born-again.

But according to him, he would play any role assigned to him especially if it impacts the moral of the story.

“I don’t reject roles, if it impacts the moral of the story I’ll play any role,” he said on Ayekoo Ayekoo, the mid-morning show on Accra100.5FM, Thursday, 3 February 2022.

The TV personality explaining movies to show host Nana Romeo stated that as an actor he is there to interpret the role assigned to him.

“A movie is a slice of life, what we present to you are things that have happened really, or things that are happening. We do research and find out this happened here, so we just slice what happens in real life and then we present it to you as a film. No film is fiction, we may create our own story but someone might identify with it somewhere even if we think its fiction and we brought the story up but somewhere or someone in Timbuktu will say: ‘wow this is my story’…and I’ll play any role given to me once it’s very impactful to the end result of the story, the moral of the story,” Majid stated.

Speaking on his long absence from the movie industry, Majid now also an evangelist explained that “I stopped filming because I was on a search of knowledge, things concerning God…”

"I was learning from prophets, I was learning from different people, I was hearing things, I was going here, I was seeing these miracles if they were real, how these people fall is it real? I went to experience these things myself,” he added.

After a long absence in movies, Majid has starred in a new movie produced by Yvonne Nelson titled ‘The Men We Love’.
