People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.

This isn't just with our peers. We need to be doing this with our children as well. Don't just say, "I'm right" all the time. Because you're not. We make mistakes. In our parenting and we need to be able to deal with that. And apologize to our children.

Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.

I feel like this one is self explanatory. But my child will know that science is above anything else. If a doctor says she needs to have a surgery, but someone tells her not to because God will heal her. She will know they are spewing bu****it 🙃

The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.

Bring this tenet down to a child level.

Last night she was playing with a new friend. That new friend was on their tablet. She of course was beside him watching. She got really upset when he did not want her touching his things. So we had to teach her about him having that freedom because it is his. And it's OK for her to be upset about it and be offended. But it doesn't change his right.

One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.

This tenet is one of the most important when it comes to parenting. For so many reasons. We teach my daughter about this tenet for bullying purposes, abuse purposes, and respecting her body.

Just as a simple example, I have asked her many times if she would like to get her ears pierced. Up to this point she has said no. She doesn't want tonpurposfully hurt herself. We intentionally did not do it when she was a baby. Bevause babies can't give consent. It's not a necessity. It's not my place.

We all all know there are many other ways to implement this tenet in parenting.

The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.

This one I don't exactly use in parenting but most definitely teach my child about this.

She has been involved in protests in our home town. She is taught about right in wrong. About laws that are put in place or laws people try to put in place that do not support human rights. She knows that just because the government says it's right or wrong does not mean it is. But we have to follow the law while working to change it.

Let's start with tenet 1 of the satanic tenets.
I
One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.

I think that this tenet is pretty self explanatory when it comes to parenting. Not just because I try to treat my child with compassion and empathy, but because I want my child to treat others the same way.

Notice though, it says with REASON. I am teaching my child to stand up for herself. Just because we empathize and are compassionate towards others, does not mean we let others walk all over us. We stand our ground.

I also try to let my daughter know, when she is treating someone in a way they would not like to be treated, she probably will not be receiving as much empathy and compassion as she would like to. I goes full circle.

My favorite part of raising children outside of religion , is by teaching them to be good people, without the fear of burning for eternity 💕💕💕🥴 we learn empathy and compassion as a human scientist trait.
