All Our Little Messes

It's been a little while so I thought I'd update you guys on what I've been working on and the direction I'll be taking the podcast.

The last few months have been life changing in matters of faith and I keep finding myself wanting to share and talk about everything that happened.

I'm still Catholic but the last year has changed what I thought that meant in ways I was not expecting. Core beliefs that I'd held as a child were challenged and I found myself questioning everything.

So much has changed for me and at first, I felt alone in it all. It's a lonely experience to question religious beliefs that everyone in your life holds as true. I give all the glory to God that I was able to come out the other side with my faith intact.

Now that I'm on the other side, I've met so many others who've experienced the same thing and also felt alone and abandoned. My hope with this podcast is to create a platform where others on the same journey as I'm on, or those who've already walked it, can resonate with what I share and feel less alone in a world that already isolates us all so much.

I'll still be sharing my original parenting and marriage content/journey but they'll be shared through the lens of Catholicism, a Faith that I have a renewed love and appreciation for.

I hope you all enjoy my future content and can relate to it. I've set up a text feature on my podcast through Buzzsprout. I would love to hear from you all in the future.

I can't wait to get started again. Stay tuned for the release date for Season 2 of All Our Little Messes❤️

Obedience to Rome is an act of love and devotion, reflecting our commitment to the Church's mission and its core values. It calls us to live our faith authentically, embracing the teachings that lead us closer to God and to one another.

Some days, you can accomplish all the things. All the errands, all the laundry, perfect home cooked meals, clean (!!!) kids, etc. You can do it all!!

Other days?! Not so much. Yesterday was a not so much day.

It was a cereal and nuggets kind of day.

I felt a little guilty but then I realized that I was just as good of a mom yesterday as I am on the days when they get omelets for breakfast and homemade pizza for dinner. I still love them just as much and am giving them as much of me as I have to give.

I just need a ‘breathing day’.

So we had nuggets on a blanket in the living room and called it a picnic.

And they loved every second.

Watching my husband with our kids often results in those moments where I realize why I married him all over again. He dedicates his entire presence to being in the moment with us and I just love to see it. Our boys worship the ground he walks on and he really is their real-life superhero.

Having a partner who believes in sharing an equal load in the parenting AND housework has been so amazing and I sometimes take it for granted. I realize how lucky we are though when I see wives and mothers struggling with taking on the burden of the entire households mental and sometimes, physical, load.

Being a husband and father is so much more than just a paycheck. It’s one of the biggest blessings in life and so many men reject it without even realizing what they’re missing out on.

So thank you, babe, for doing the dishes. For parenting our boys with me. For scheduling your own doctors appointments. And for a million other things that you do so that I don’t have to❤️✨

In a world that constantly celebrates milestones and achievements, let's take a moment to shed light on something often overlooked - the immense challenge and lack of support that mothers face on the home front. 🏠💪

👶 From sleepless nights cradling little ones to juggling household chores and emotional demands, being a mother is a full-time, 24/7 job. Yet, the support system for these real-life superheroes is often inadequate. 🦸‍♀️ Society needs to recognize that the strength it takes to run a household and nurture future generations deserves applause and concrete backing.

🤷‍♀️ Why is it that moms are made to feel guilty for taking a breather or asking for help? Let's change the narrative! It's high time we appreciate and empower the backbone of our families.

Being a mother is some of the most important work you’ll ever do, in spite of what some people might say. It is, in fact, a full time job. We aren’t just “taking it easy”.

Recent data says that if you were paid for your services, you would be earning a salary of around $180k/year and working upwards of 98 hours a week.

There is nothing wrong with staying home to care for children. In fact, there is an incredible value in it, even in the material world.

We’re raising the next generation and you can’t put a price tag on the love that goes into that work❤️

So much of our mothering journey is affected by the opinions and pressures of the outside world. Everyone has an opinion on how you should be living and raising your kids and a lot of the time, these opinions are unwelcome.

They create unnecessary stress in an environment that is already stressful. Raising kids is hard and you already place high expectations on yourself. You don’t need family or friends pushing their ideas on you.

Protecting your peace is one of the best decisions you can make for your family. Setting firm boundaries and then holding them is so crucial for our mental health and creates such a more peaceful environment for us to see our parenting goals through.

It’s hard.

I get it!

There’s so much pressure from the outside world to be the perfect mom, to have the perfect kids with the perfect house.

But what if God is calling you to something real?

He gave us all a unique brand of motherhood that we can call our own, that nobody else can even come close to copying.

We don’t need to be anything more than that, or anything less.

Embrace the mother inside you that God gave you.

Be the mother God designed you to be.

When I got married, I had this romanticized idea of what the relationship was going to look like. I thought it was going to be a Disney princess fairy tale and I was going to live happily ever after. Life was going to be perfect.

Thank God I gave up that idea!

What I found was so much better…

I found a life with a human being who was flawed, was wounded in his way, had weird habits that bugged me, had a heart for Jesus, wasn’t afraid of calling me out when I messed up, was a leader, an amazing father, and saw me as an equal partner.

I found ✨my person✨

And yes, I know that sounds romantic.

But when you stop and think about how flawed and broken a human you are, you’ll realize that you needed someone who recognized that in you.

Marriage isn’t made of two perfect people. It’s when two imperfect people come together and commit to a lifetime of helping each other and lifting each other up.

It’s not perfect.

But it is beautiful❤️
