Graham said to dress warm on this icy February morning, but there wasn’t enough layers in the world. My tripod froze, so I shot handheld with my telephoto. On paper, nothing about it sounds appealing, yet I loved watching every second of it. I could have edited to smooth the camera shake from my freezing hands but it’s raw and extreme, just like it felt. These guys battled the chop and the cold with smiles on their faces. Everything about it is contagious and super badass. ⚡️🌪❄️

I went downtown today to shoot photos for and, besides being grateful for the opportunity in these trying times, I felt very unsettled. Saturday afternoon, right in the heart of Victoria, eerily empty streets. It felt like that part in a dream where you’re in a familiar place you’ve never been before... so on my way home I decided to stop at a spot that I’d been wanting to photograph for a while. Catch some late sun rays and calm the tangible pandemic nerves. (While shamelessly posing as my own subject matter 💁🏻♀️🧘🏻♀️)
