I’m not sure what about this book makes it feel like a dreamy, fall read. It’s not set in the fall. There’s no mention of sweaters… but regardless so far I’m greatly enjoying this beautifully descriptive, charming love story about two book lovers. I should be doing productive things… but I think I’ll keep reading…

I am a huge Kate Canterbary fan and this book does not disappoint. I was worried that my hopes were too high because of how excited I’ve been for this release. I mean… I’ve read ‘In a Jam’ and ‘The Worst Guy’ 5+ times each. But this book is so good… I actually procrastinated finishing it because I was distressed about it being over. I think my favorite thing about Shucked, which also felt different than any other romance novel I’ve ever read… was the level of intimacy described in the book. I don’t mean s*xy time… this is probably one of Kate’s tamest books (still spicy). I’m talking about incredible descriptions of intimacy that really capture the depth of Beck’s (MMC) devotion to Sunny (FMC). I’m still thinking about the very specific way Beck holds Sunny’s hand on every car ride… how he prioritizes her and her needs even when its not easy. Reading a KC novel is a breath of fresh air. She avoids the typical cliches that describe unhealthy relationships and dramatic women that are damsels needing a savior. Kate Canterbary is breaking the mold that we are so used to by avoiding the typical stereotypes, and using her books as a way to describe love in all of the different ways it can exist.

PS - it is VERY unfair to write about Meara and her 2 husbands without giving us a full book on their story. Can we start a kickstarter campaign or something?

PPS- thank you for adding me to the ARC team for Shucked. It helped me take a pause from being a workaholic and return to my bookstagram hobby!

Y’all I had a terrible February and the final week really took the cake. My family got the flu, Covid, and norovirus and it was an excruciatingly difficult month at work. All that to say… I read very little but did a lot of cathartic book shopping. Here’s one of my book stacks after a particularly aggressive shopping spree. So my TBR is longer than ever and my daily/weekly/monthly page count is the lowest it’s been in YEARS and I am lacking the motivation to dive back in to reading. Hopefully my inner reader comes back soon. Sorry for going MIA!

I always give the same rec of a book I read over five years ago 😬😬🫠. Maybe I should stop bragging that I read 150 books last year so they stop asking for recs…. Meh. Lol

Is this you? It is *definitely* me. My three TV series on repeat: New Girl, Parks & Rec, The Office. What are yours?

I had this epiphany after a short bookstagram convo with about how comforting romance books are.

I read 10 books in January, but the top spot goes to 's newest release. "The Duke Gets Even" is a breath of fresh air for historical romance. Instead of a virginal, inexperienced FMC, we get Nellie the scandalous, feminist badass. Please read it and let me know what you think!

PS--Happy February! January and February are the rainy season here in Georgia (hence the background of this post). You know what they say... January showers bring February flowers. I don't mind the rain though.. it just means more reading :)

The newest release from gets the full five stars from me and it’s getting added to my list of books I reread over and over.

“The Duke Gets Even” mixed in so much warmth while also addressing difficult issues from the time period (i.e.- women having no bodily autonomy or rights and being treated more like possessions than human beings). Nellie’s father and aunt and friends and MMC all accept her and love her for who she is without stipulations even though she was considered very scandalous for the time period. Honestly, we all need a dad like Nellie’s and a spouse like the Duke.

I don’t want to give too much away, but this is a MUST READ.

Caroline Lee is another new author for me and this book did not disappoint. I was intrigued by the idea of a woman bartering herself for a debt. This book was definitely spicy from the start and I liked the elements of shame layered in with a lot of s*x positivity. An entertaining read especially since the MMC says some of the most hilarious curses I've ever heard/read. This was a genuinely funny and charming book... especially the cat. Four stars! I plan to go back and read the first book in the series... I didn't realize this was a series until I had already started this book. Ooops!

This was an intense read. Please avoid it if reading about an FMC struggling with an eating disorder will trigger you because it is a significant theme in the book. Even with the heavy content, I did enjoy this read. I gave it four stars and even though there is B**M it is really only moderately spicy. Definitely B**M-lite. The FMC also calls the MMC "daddy" and I usually hate that, but the way Brianna Hale wrote the story... it honestly didn't bother me. I will definitely be reading more from Brianna ASAP!!
