Finally, meet our Grandaddy Dock played by Mr. Godwin.

"Mr. Harvey Godwin, Jr. is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and the owner and CEO of Two Hawk Employment Services, founded in 1999. Godwin served as Chairman of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina for two consecutive terms, from 2015 to 2021. In his time as Tribal Chairman, Mr. Godwin provided leadership that has left a lasting impact on the lives of members of the Lumbee Tribe. Preserving the way of life for the Lumbee people has been hugely important to him and the community. Mr. Godwin currently sits on the board of directors of the Roanoke Island Historical Association Inc. The association sponsors the annual production of the symphonic outdoor historical drama The Lost Colony, located in Manteo, North Carolina. Mr. Godwin also currently serves as a committee member for the Julian T. Pierce Memorial Art Dinner, which will hold its 10th annual event this coming year. The JTP Memorial Art Dinner raises funds to support the Julian T. Pierce Memorial Scholarship initiative. Each year, the JTP Memorial Scholarship Initiative contributes to Robeson Community College, the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and North Carolina Central University. These contributions assist students with tuition and other expenses."

Meet the actor playing Cortez John Scott Richardson !

John Scott-Richardson’s maternal and paternal lineage is (Saponi/Tuscarora) and is an enrolled member Haliwa-Saponi Nation of North Carolina. John received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minor in Art and Business from Atlantic Christian College. His training in acting began at North Raleigh Community Theater followed by training with Safe Harbors NYC, and Amerinda Inc. NY. His Film/TV credits include Comedy Central Awards, Banshee (Cinemax), Vice Principals (HBO), The American West (AMC), Jamestown (Sky1BBC), The ReunionNY; The Heart Stays (Amerinda) The Politician (Netflix) and is eligible for SAG membership. Johns theatrical work includes Powwow Highway (Amerinda) New Circle Theater (Broadway), Dvorak in America (La Mama), Don’t Feed the Indians (Safe Harbors), Mangled Beams (Amerinda), Ajijaak On Turtle Island (New Victory/Ibex Puppetry) and The Pendleton Blanket (Amerinda). John passions are working with the youth, Native American culture and educating the next generation. John places highest value on family and continues the legacy of his ancestors by continuously sharing a voice and giving a perspective and more in-depth narrative.

Meet the actor playing Gage, Roger Dale Locklear Dale Locklear

"Dale Locklear is a multi-talented individual, seamlessly bridging the worlds of law and music. As an accomplished attorney specializing in Civil Rights and Constitutional Law, he has devoted his career to fighting for justice and equality. He holds degrees from North Carolina Central University School of Law and American University Washington College of Law. Alongside his legal achievements, Dale is also a skilled country musician ( ), captivating audiences with heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies. Whether performing on stage or crafting songs, Dale weaves his storytelling prowess and musical talent to create memorable experiences. The combination of Dale’s legal expertise and musical artistry allows him to connect with audiences on multiple levels. His songs reflect themes of justice, equality, and the human experience, showcasing his passion for making a positive impact through both law and music. Additionally, Locklear is excited to take on the role of Gage in Lumbeeland, further expanding his creative endeavors."

Meet Antoinette ( Antoinette Carl Hurtt ) , our beautiful and fierce Connie!

Antoinette Locklear Hurtt is the daughter of former television evangelist Billy Locklear of Pembroke and Mary Bryant of Fairmont. She is a native of Robeson County and attended the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where she graduated with a major in Criminal Justice. This led her to a career in law enforcement, during which she became the first female to be assigned in Robeson County as a North Carolina State Trooper. Additionally, she is a proud mom who feels blessed to raise three wonderful children. When she is not solving crimes as a detective, she enjoys painting her thoughts and stories on a canvas, enjoying life, music, exercise, family, and friends. Her challenge to others is to always take a chance because you never know how far you can go until you try!

We are happy to have her as apart of the Lumbeeland cast!

Meet Bethany Harris. She will be playing our sweet and clever character Danielle. Bethany is the daughter of Frankie Harris and Angela Locklear. She enjoys sports, loves to dance and spend time with friends, and she is an A/B student. She loves adventures and Danielle is her first acting role. We are excited to have her!

Meet William “Billy” Oxendine ()the actor playing our protagonist 'Dollar'.

Billy is a native actor from Maxton, NC. He gained his bachelors degree in theatre arts at UNC Pembroke and is currently studying to obtain his masters degree in acting at the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University in NYC. Some of his most noteworthy performances have been as Henry Berry Lowery in the Strike at the Wind, Macbeth, and Orsino in Twelfth Night. He is the son of Denise Oxendine and the late Wyvis Oxendine Sr. We are happy to have him apart of the Lumbeeland family!

Meet our director! Montana Cypress is a playwright, filmmaker and actor. Originally from the Miccosukee Tribe located in South Florida, he now resides in Los Angeles where he is a member of the Native Voices Theatre Ensemble. He is a winner of Best Native Directed Short at the 2022 Phoenix Film Festival, winner of the Von Marie Atchley Excellence in Playwriting award, and Finalist for AT&T Create-a-Thon contest partnered with Warner Brothers. His films have screened on Alaska Airlines and in many festivals throughout the country. His short documentary about alligator wrestling can be seen on PBS Native Report.
