The Conjuring Universe returns with its latest installment, "The Conjuring 4: Last Rites." This series began with the 2013 American supernatural horror film "The Conjuring," directed by James Wan and written by Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes. Starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, the film follows the real-life paranormal investigators known for their work on famous haunting cases, including the inspiration behind The Amityville Horror story and film franchise.

"The Conjuring" centers on the Warrens' assistance to the Perron family, who experienced increasingly disturbing events in their Rhode Island farmhouse in 1971. The film's development began in January 2012, with James Wan confirmed as director. Initially titled "The Warren Files," the film was later renamed "The Conjuring." Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga's second collaboration with Wan brought the Warrens' story to life. Filming started in Wilmington, North Carolina, in February 2012, with scenes shot in chronological order.

Released on July 19, 2013, by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema, "The Conjuring" received critical acclaim for its performances, direction, screenplay, atmosphere, and musical score, grossing over $319 million worldwide on a $20 million budget. Its success led to a sequel, "The Conjuring 2," released on June 10, 2016.

Now, with "The Conjuring 4: Last Rites," fans can expect another chilling chapter in the Warrens' legacy.
