High-contact cultures usually touch each other more frequently, have less personal space, make more eye contact, and also talk louder. You can find this kind of contact in Latin America and the Middle East. Non-contact cultures tend to stand farther away from one another and use less physical touch. When two people from opposing cultures meet, the no-contact person can be seen as unapproachable while the high-contact person can be seen as pushy.

Mother Mary and baby Jesus are the main subjects of this 15th-century painting, but it’s the details in the background that pull all of the focus. Behind the iconic mother-son duo, high on a hill, stand a shepherd and his dog who are staring into the sky. This cup appears to be like any ordinary Greek goblet. But what you don’t see inside is a column sticking up that has a hole at the bottom of it. Once the cup is filled to the brim, the liquid will drain out from the bottom of the cup. When the wine goes over the column, all of the liquid will be released. This cup provides us with a lesson on moderation. It is named after Pythagoras of Samos who was a Greek mathematician who wanted it to teach his students a thing or two about greed.

Laika was the very first living creature to be sent to space. She went aboard the Sputnik 2 spacecraft in November of 1957. She was a Soviet space dog who was part Siberian husky and was the first animal to orbit Earth.
