This is Zack and Amy. They were the first couple to see my potential as a DJ, even before I could. (Let’s be honest, I was always the guy in college bringing my iTouch just in case the playlist needed some help.) Zack and Amy are my little brother and sister from student ministry. They approached me and were like, PLEASE DJ OUR WEDDING! I told them I have no equipment and any skills whatsoever. Ha, they countered that being an MC at youth group events, I would be the perfect DJ figure for their wedding. So I took the job! I worked SOOO hard on that playlist. I interviewed Zack and Amy, and I made sure all my songs were edited. The wedding day was fantastic! When it came time for the reception, I was alllll ready to go.
Y’all, even the vendors, have expectations for their first gig.
I think we got 30 min of actual dancing in a 2-hour reception. I. Was. Crushed. I thought, Oh, no! It’s me! It’s me! I’m totally bombing. In actuality, Zack and Amy’s vibe was so chill and so relaxed, it was more setting the mood for the BEST dinner party ever. So that’s what I did, I put the mood for the rest of the night, swinging the night away!
After the wedding, Zack and Amy’s family gave me nothing but high praise! I realized after that first wedding that every wedding is different! At the end of the day, you are serving the bride and groom. You’re making sure that even if the day is crazy and hectic, that they can just RELAX and ENJOY themselves with their family and friends.
To this day Amy sings me high praises, and her and Zack are so cherished to Steph and me ♥️♥️♥️
After this wedding, I thought I would never DJ again...little did I know, but other people, besides Zack and Amy, saw how my personality can change the temperature of an entire room.....
