Up at 6am, thanks to my love puppy! Anyone who truly knows me, knows that 6am is NOT my thing. However.... Nova alerted me to Baby being in some pain. She kept nose punting me, very persistently. Baby couldn't pull herself up to walk and her lymph nodes are very swollen. She was also having an allergic reaction to something.
After giving her an allergy pill and getting her a drink and potty, I sat on the floor with her and talked awhile about how her boy is going to be welcoming his baby girl into the world sometime between Friday afternoon and Monday. 🥰 I know some of you are likely sceptical as to the depths of a dog's understanding, but I've personally witnessed the miracle of what their eyes say! 🐾 - I've had Baby with me since Kasey left home almost 12 years ago, but she's ALWAYS had the sense about her to look for him and recognize his voice on the phone or video chats. It's always a mood changer for her, of contentment. Whenever his name is spoken, she perks up or comes in to see me.
I know that this wildly dingy sweetheart of a pup is facing the end stage of her life. I want her to know (feel) how much she's loved and how much she's made me laugh throughout the years. She's wiped away thousands of tears, and just like Zayna, she's been the keeper of so much of my hearts tales.
Over the last year, she's given up her 'Alpha' status to Nova Jean and spends her days on her bed, laying in the sunshine coming through the windows. In the spring and summer, she goes outside to soak up time in the grass.
She can't tell me where she hurts or even the extent of her pain, but I see it and reassure her that if the day comes where I can no longer keep her comfortable or living dignified, I will swallow that dreaded jagged pill, and stop her from suffering. As of now, she shows no sign of 'giving up', but she's drastically slowed way down.
I believe Baby knows that her boy is now a man and within a few days, will be a father. I believe love is her driving force and once she knows that her boy will be ok and has a purpose for a lifetime; she will let me know or I'll find her sleeping peacefully in her bed and know that Zayna will have been there to greet her!
Her and I, along with the rest of the pack (family) will be anxiously awaiting baby girl. And when she arrives and everyone's safe and happy, we will all celebrate. Baby will finally get to see what her boy, created!
