Ok so review number one.
Our favourites. Not.
First off there's this: The entire business model of this company is to make money from YOU.
Over 90% of ALL artists who utilise their services never make anywhere near what they pay them back.
Every teaser they send you is designed for you to spend more with them.
And from 35 year experienced music industry specialists, we can tell you right now - THAT is their aim.
Of course their are annual repeat payments of $49.99 on EVERY release you put through them.
And did you know this?
Their internal "Chart" is based purely on how active YOU are, and how much you spend with them. It has nothing at all to do with people enjoying your music.
It's designed to make you feel that you are progressing and then.. spend more with them.
It's almost like those "freemium" phone games. Tempting you to spend more, but there is no WIN at the end of it all.
And now we get to the worst of Reverbnation. THEFT.
We know of several SUCCESSFUL artists who have suffered at the hands of Reverbnation.
One in particular (whom we shall not name for privacy purposes) stands out.
An artist who has surpassed 32 million streams now. That equates to over $100,000.
The man (if that word I'd deserving) at the helm of Reverbnation whom we only know as "Stewart" decided to cut this artist off, block from control panel.
And is now KEEPING all owed royalties.
With the only one or two releases there, we expect the figure to now still be over $1000.
It's the Internet. People can steal money without fear of legal reprise.
Just as this disgraceful human being is doing even as this is written.
I will conclude this exposé with advice:
If you are now setting out with ambitions in music, unanimously we recommend Distro Kid, or TuneCore.
Avoid Reverbnation as you would the plague.
