Happy Birthday to the late Lance Reddick. While he had many fabulous roles over the years, this one As Commander Zavala is a personal favorite of mine from the video game Destiny 2. He didn't just play Commander Zavala, he was also a Destiny player himself. The newest expansion, dropped on Tuesday and today is Raid Launch day. Not sure if that was done on purpose or not by but it's nice little note to help culminate

While we haven't reviewed a movie or TV show where Lance has been in, the three of us are all huge fans of him and his loss is felt immensely.

It is time to drop some knowledge on how the south suburbs of Chicago informed Robert Oppenheimer and the team behind the Trinity Test.

As most people know the University of Chicago played a major role in the development and testing of the World's First Nuclear Reactor aka Chicago Pile-1, but when it was deemed unsafe to a populated Hyde Park they had to pivot and move their operation to a 1025-acre piece of land in Palos Park, IL that was leased from the Cook County Forest Preserve. The first test was actually planned at the site, but due to a labor strike, it was done under Stagg Field instead.

Tests on CP-1 under Stagg Field were halted in 1943, and the CP-1 was moved to this site and rebuilt and renamed CP-2. Later on, they built CP-3, the first water cooled nuclear reactor on this same site. Tests were continuously run here on reactor physics studies, fission product separations, hydrogen-3 recovery from irradiated lithium, and studies on irradiated laboratory animals. It should be noted that CP-2 and CP-3 did not produce materials for nuclear weapons, but the information gathered from the studies informed Oppenheimer, as mentioned earlier.

Well, anyways, they were dismantled after 1954 and buried 40 feet deep on this site, and we visited it. Site A is where the reactors were built, and Plot M is where other contaminated materials were buried. You can safely visit these sites today, and don't worry, they run test on them annually.
