No need to be an only child, just a desire to be better at adulting.
If you have a cat, you know this only too well. But voting is no laughing matter. Today’s episode is all about voting and how important it is. How I looked forward to voting when I was turning 18. And a lot more. Voting is important!
Text messages, phone calls, TV commercials and more! It’s that time of year. This week I’m talking about voting. Even though there’s a lot of extra stuff that goes with it, and everyone is not only trying to get your vote, but your donation, voting is an important right not to be taken for granted.
The 100th episode is live today! Thanks everyone!
100th EPISODE TOMORROW!!
Confidence. Where does it come from? How do you gain it if you don’t have it? Today this is what I’m taking about. How confident are you? Disclaimer: This is not just an only child thing! -confidence
Independence Day!! It’s this week here in the States. It means a lot but it also means a coveted day off! And fireworks? Yes. Our poor dog doesn’t like the constant boom booms she will hear. I’ve got a big list of things I want to accomplish on my big day off. This week is The Brochure on Summer Holidays!
Tomorrow I’ll be talking about the 4th of July. Holiday weekends. Holiday weeks! Easier? Funner? Everyone likes that!! I’m looking forward to NOT WORKING!!! How about you???
Blood draws? Oh my!! It’s taken me a lifetime to get used to them and I’m still having issues! 🤪 Are you squeamish too? Blood is our friend? Blood is just a liquid right? So why has it given me such a hard time! Today’s episode talks about all that and my recent blood draw. Let me know if you can relate.
How do you feel about.....blood? Getting a blood test? Needles? That's what we're talking about tomorrow!
Have you ever had a migraine? Before I started getting them, I didn't understand how bad they could really get. A lot of people need to shut themselves down. Stay in bed in a dark room. It's also considered a disability now. In today's episode I'm talking about my migraine journey, and how I resisted at first seeking medical advice. Why I ask myself now! Tomorrow I'm talking about migraine headaches. I started having them about 15 years ago and found myself with one the day I needed to record this week's episode. Ugh, right? Photo credit: dehaasbe on Pixabay
Have you ever seen the funny film The Money Pit? It’s a hilarious romp about a couple who buy a fixer upper with a lot of possibilities and are sidelined by an extensive and seemingly overwhelming list of repairs. In today’s episode I’m talking about the joys - no wait that’s not it - the challenges of homeownership and figuring out how to BE a good and efficient homeowner. It takes a lot of know-how.
How do you become a good homeowner? How do you learn the skills needed to take care of your home? That’s what I’m talking about tomorrow.
Who doesn’t love little Ricky? Today’s episode is The Brochure on I Love Lucy: My Favorite Comfort Show. I’m talking about Lucy and things I’ve seen recently that I never knew. Like Hazel Pierce. Do you know about her??
Ah Lucy. I’ve enjoyed watching I Love Lucy my whole life. It’s one of my “comfort” shows. And as many times as I’ve watched it I still see new things.
Kids. Naughty kids. Sweet kids. Cheeky kids? Today’s episode talks about being around children when you don’t really know how to DEAL with children. Kids. They scare me a little? Which is emphasized when I have an experience like I did this week. Hey. I have feelings too. Photo credit: Piyapong89 on Pixabay
Kids. Kids? Yes. This was me around age 6. This week I’m talking about kids. And being around kids. Ah yes. Kids. Happy Memorial Day weekend btw. 🇺🇸
I remember back when I took this photo. My hubby was in the hospital and this was on the wall outside his room. This week I’m talking about life and loss. Surprise? But this week marks a return to my perky intro music because, well, every day IS a gift. And we never know how long we have. Right? I’m still having some challenging moments thinking about Dallas. But I’m working through them because what else do I have?
It’s been a rough patch for me. Today’s episode marks a little bit of a milestone though because I’m feeling like it’s time to bring back our perky intro music. Yes. I’m still missing my boy Dallas. It’s hard to get over 23 years of having him. He’s part of my soul. But I’m feeling like I don’t want to keep feeling SO bad. And today I’m pondering how loss keeps going especially as we age. What’s new and what’s old? What’s the difference when you’re talking about grief and loss? That’s what I’m talking about in today’s episode. The Brochure on Navigating Loss, Old and New. The new is about Dallas our horse. The old? My friend Gina. She’s been gone six years now. This month would’ve been her 65th birthday. I’m talking about processing both and the difference, for me. I hope you’ll join me.
Today I’m talking about the bad days that come up. I thought I was doing okay but then I had a bad day this week. Oooh. I’m talking BAD day. That’s to be expected right? Loss. Grief. It’s what happens when you lose someone you’re connected to and care about. Also Gina’s birthday is coming up this week and her passing anniversary is this month. How does grief change as time goes by?
Friends. They help us sometimes in ways we don’t realize will happen and in ways we can’t anticipate. Today’s episode is about how talking to a good friend who lost her horse years ago helped get me through the day. It’s all a part of the process. There have been so many people so far who have helped me. I’m very grateful. Photo credit: cheryllholt on Pixabay.
Friends. They can help us through the tough times. This is a photo of Dallas on the right and his friend Mason who passed seven years ago. Tomorrow I’ll be talking about (in part) how friends can help us through the tough times.
Sometimes your other pets are your lifeline to relief from the grief. Losing Dallas has made me rely on little Brownie more. She’s a willing participant with what Bill calls her “squishy eyes!” She knows how to work it. This week I’m talking about the distractions she provided to me. Gratefully.
There’s being distracted and then there’s distractions. In grief there’s a big difference. Sunday I was pleasantly surrounded by distractions as I took our little dog Brownie to the neighborhood park for the annual dog event called the Dog Parade and Brownie (and I helped 😂) took Second Place overall. We participated in the parade and also did the agility course. Running with my knee replacements was an experience as everyone watched. What do they say? “Dance like no one is watching and sing like no one is listening.” Well. I’ll add “run like no one is watching.” It was a little sad. No honors certificate for me!!! But I found myself - dare I say? - enjoying myself? You can hear all about it in this week’s episode.
What will the Rainbow Bridge look like? Yesterday’s episode is live. I’m talking about my grief. I’ll admit. I’m struggling. Have you had a loss you’re struggling with as well?
I wonder where is the road to the Rainbow Bridge? 🌈 Yes this week it’s another episode about my grief over the loss of Dallas. I feel like I’m starting to forget how it felt to feel him. To be with him. And it hurts. 💔 Sure it hurts. So I’ve been just keeping myself distracted. But it’s not all bad news. I’ve got a few upbeat updates at the end of this episode. Thanks for listening.
I have been searching for the word that describes my brain during this time of grief, and one friend hit on it without even realizing it. Distraction. Grief is so distracting. In today’s episode I continue to share my journey that this week proved to me being distracted is not only real, it’s dangerous. I tripped and fell in a parking lot and hurt myself enough that my physical pain almost equaled my emotional pain. And I’ve tried so hard to stay present. As I write this I continue to elevate, medicate and ice myself.
Today’s episode is live. I’m talking about how we’ve dealt with going back to his stall without him there. Receiving his ashes here at home. Two big milestones with his loss. And yet in this life, the world keeps turning somehow. I would think it would have stopped. I have some good news. Imagine. Life goes on and it’s important to try to keep up with the self-care.
My boy Dallas. This week I’ll be talking more about how we’re doing with the sudden loss. There are things to do and each one has been a bit excruciating.

OK. Who else hates laundry? 🙋♀️ Me!! But I still do it and all the other things I need to do. I’ve been blessed with a lot of energy and I enjoy taking care of things. Around the house, making sure we have what we need. Last week I did a day of errands and it felt good being productive even with my bad knees. Do you enjoy doing errands? Doing things around your your living space? Today’s episode The Brochure on Time Management & Being the Energizer Bunny talks about doing these things and touches on the dreaded “R” word.
