Summer weather is in full swing and we are experiencing a heat wave! It’s hard to be productive when it’s this hot but Greg powers through 💪 thankfully we have the lake and creek nearby for cooling down
We are a young couple that lives completely off grid in south eastern BC, in a converted skoolie. Subscribe and follow along on our journey!
We have big plans to build a small home and will be documenting the process on our youtube channel.
Summer weather is in full swing and we are experiencing a heat wave! It’s hard to be productive when it’s this hot but Greg powers through 💪 thankfully we have the lake and creek nearby for cooling down
The dry pour concrete method has been blowing up on YouTube so we decided it was time to try it out for our next project! What do you think of the dry pour method?
Our trusty water pump decided to stop working so we decided to try a new brand! With summer weather in full swing, we need to get the water flowing so we can keep the garden alive and the animals hydrated. #
He’s finally here! Our first goat birth didn’t go as smoothly as one would hope but welcome to the world Steven! Check out our latest video to hear the full story!
Now that we have the new goat barn ready, we need to build them a nice large outdoor area!
We messed up and miscalculated Lilys due date. We need this barn ready yesterday! New video is live!
Milling a massive tree that was way too big for our milling! A little extra work but we got a decent re-stock of lumber from it!
on our mountain property!
Using up the junk piles and turning it into something beautiful! We’ve been collecting used building materials ever since we moved to our property, but it was all for good reason!
Framing in the front walls and getting creative with siding! This has been a fun project!
We found this laying around on our property! Work continues on the 24x40 barn/workshop!
Framing begins now! We are closing in the walls of the soon to be barn/workshop using milled lumber and up-cycled windows. Our piles of “junk” are getting smaller 😅 Check out the new video down below
This Deal was TOO GOOD to pass up! In this weekends video, we are installing some metal roofing on our barn addition. Watch the video and let us know in the comments if we should match the roof color to existing metal or leave it the way it is?
Framing the roof of our 12x40 barn addition using our own milled lumber!
Framing Day 1 starts now on the 12x40 barn addition! New video is live, go check it out 🤩
Starting the next big build! We are going to double the size of the old sawmill structure. New video is out now!
We worked hard yesterday but Greg set an alarm to wake us up at midnight and I’m glad we managed to get up for a few minutes! Did you see the northern lights last night?
Changing up the landscaping in an attempt to keep the mud/dirt outside! What do you think? Did we make the right choice bringing in more fill to level the ramp out?
The wood chipper is an awesome tool and we’re always pushing it to the limits! We may have broken it this time…check out the new video!
She left me behind… new video is out now!
When someone says “I know a guy who can do it cheaper” but it takes a full day to make one gate 😂 farm gates are actually quite affordable, between $100-200. So while we saved a small amount of money DIYing the gates, it still took Greg a very long time to fabricate them. He did learn get some practice on the welder which is invaluable and we think they turned out pretty nice!
We have finally finished the kitchen COMPLETELY! After realizing the tiles weren’t not quite what we were envisioning, we carried on with the project unsure of if we would like the end results. Now that it’s all complete, it’s starting to grow on us
The fencing is finally done and we are moving into gates! We can be a bit more creative with them which is always fun. Tune into the latest video to check it all out!
This put a stop to our work… and we were so close to finishing! Check out the new video to see what happens!
Starting with the hardest (we hope) section first! Fencing our mountain property. Check out the new video, linked below
We need to do this so we can continue! In this weeks video, we have to do some earthworks to clear the area for the fencing. The dozer would be helpful for this project…
After 5 years of living off the grid, she’s finally dropping her first tree! In all honesty, Greg has been bugging me to fall a tree for years but I’ve been too scared. Maybe it was the spring sunshine that had me feeling confident enough to tackle it this day! It wasn’t a perfect cut by any means but it was fun and a good learning experience!
We need this to protect our animals! Now that we have a livestock guardian dog (they are known to wander) and we want to keep her close doing her job, we need to get some proper fencing.
is hitting our property and we are preparing for the next big project! But first, we have some clean up to do which means !
This is what off grid living is all about! We are preparing for next winters firewood, the spring water is flowing and we’re knocking projects off in the house we’ve built with our 4 hands!

The biggest tree we ever milled was too big for the saw mill. We had to use the chainsaw the take the side of the butt end off 😅 #offgrid #offgridcanada #milling #sawmill #woodmizer #ponderosapine #milledlumber #beetlekill
It's a constant battle with the #goats. We like to let them free range and forage, but they would rather get into trouble 🫣😅
