🔥Today marks 4 years since the release of our first episode! 🔥

In so many ways it feels like just yesterday that this journey began; yet at the same time, it seems like an entire lifetime of love, heartbreak, learning, growth, sadness, healing, and inspiration, has occurred in just 4 short years.

I am forever grateful to the original crew of Diversity on Fire (our original name). Without Ninah, Bwanga, and Ashley I'm not sure this little ember of an idea would have made it off the ground. My love for you all will never cease regardless of where we are now.

The show will continue as I/we work to improve, grow, and expand. The work is never done; endless stories and lives are yet to be touched.

Onward! 🔥❤️🩷🧡💛💚💙🩵💜🤎🖤🩶🤍🔥

One of the lessons I took from this conversation is that we exist both before and after identity. So often such a high value is placed on certain identities that we claim or perhaps others claim for us. Those identities may be important, however, we must remember they are only part of a whole.

One of the big challenges with understanding our own bias is that we have a tendency to listen to respond rather than listen to understand. This centers our opinion, perspective, and experience above what is being said by the other person particularly if that person is different than us or holds an opposing opinion than our own.

Holding space and later taking the time to reflect and acknowledge what doing so brought up inside us is a great way to uncover our own unconscious bias.
