It's always inspiring to see everyday people stepping up to help animals in need. These kind people provide the animals with much-needed safety and protection and help them return home.

Recently, a bus driver took a special step to save a dog that was standing in the middle of the road on a rainy day.

Stephany K., a driver for the Milwaukee County Transit System, was on her route on a rainy Monday when she suddenly saw a dog in front of her bus. The dog ran freely on the street and narrowly avoided several cars.

Stephany recognized the danger and decided to make an unscheduled stop to help the dog. She opened the bus doors and called the dog in. The dog, happy to be out of the rain and traffic, entered the bus and greeted the passengers.

While she waited for help, Stephany called dispatch and left the dog in the driver's seat. A route supervisor eventually picked up the dog and took him to the Milwaukee Police Department in hopes of reuniting him with his family.

Stephany was praised by her company for her compassion and dedication: "Thank you, Stephany, for your compassion and commitment to the excellence of MCTS," the Milwaukee County Transit System wrote on Facebook.

It seems that bus drivers in Milwaukee are real heroes: In March, another driver, Keyon, caused a stir when he picked up a toddler who was running around on "the most dangerous street in Milwaukee" on a very cold day. He also brought the child to safety by calling the police.
