Israel Adesanya has become a dominant force to reckon with in the MMA world. The man has proven himself worthy of being a UFC caliber fighter which many thought would be impossible due to his extensive kickboxing career. Many thought that Adesanya would lose once his ground game is tested. However, with a 17-0 record in MMA Israel has proven he can handle the new rule set he partakes in.

Adesanya has a record of (75-5-1) in kickboxing and has perfectly translated his striking style to mixed martial art formats. Israel has proven to be durable, hard to take down, hard to keep down, and has cardio for days. Israel now has 6 wins in the UFC with notable victories over Brad Tavares, Derek Brunson, Anderson Silva, and Kelvin Gastelum.

6 UFC wins is incredibly impressive considering Adesanya’s first UFC fight was less than 2 years ago in February 2018. His activity has lead him to stardom within the MMA community and has also earned him a UFC interim title. Adesanya is now about to face his toughest challenge yet against Robert Whittaker in October at UFC 243.

RUMBLE TIME! 🥊🥊

ANTHONY "RUMBLE" JOHNSON TO RETURN AT HEAVYWEIGHT

As per his manager Ali Abdelaziz, Anthony "rumble" Johnson is targeting a return in march of 2020. He plans to file the necessary paperwork soon to re-enter USADA's testing pool. USADA require fighters a six month testing period before entering competition. If rumble enters the testing pool soon, he should be right in line for a march comeback.

Anthony Johnson is a two time title challenger at light heavyweight but, is eyeing a return in the heavyweight division against ranked opponents like Junior dos Santos or Alistair Overeem. Keep posted for rumble to speak on the matter as we should be hearing from him once he re-enters the testing pool.

Who would you pick for rumbles comeback fight?

California stat athletic commission has a ruling where you can not weight in 10% more than you did on weigh in day for fight night, recently Aspen Ladd had her licence revoked in california for this same issue. Well, for 241 nearly half of the completion broke the athletic commissions rule. One specifically that's scary is Manny Bermudez who weighed in 17.7% heavier on fight night than his catchweight fight at 140lbs, a whole 24lbs heavier. The results were as follows:

Main Card
Stipe Miocic (230.5 pounds to 233 pounds = 1.1%) def.
Daniel Cormier (236.5 pounds to 247 pounds = 4.4%)
Nate Diaz (170 to 180 = 5.9%) def.
Anthony Pettis (169.5 to 177.2 = 4.5%)
Paulo Costa (186 to 213.8 = 14.9%)* def. Yoel Romero (184.5 to 207.2 = 12.3%)*
Sodiq Yusuff (145 to 169.2 = 16.7%)* def. Gabriel Benitez (146 to 164.6 = 12.7%)*
Derek Brunson (186 to 204.8 = 10.1%)* def.
Ian Heinisch (185.5 to 203.5 = 9.7%)

Preliminary Card
Khama Worthy (155.5 to 167.6 = 7.8%) def. Devonte Smith (156 to 163.8 = 5%)
Cory Sandhagen (136 to 149.2 = 9.7%) def. Raphael Assuncao (136 to 153.2 = 12.6%)*

Sabina Mazo (126 to 145.6 = 15.6%)* def. Shana Dobson (124.5 to 136 = 9.2%

If the commission forces these fighters to fight up a weight class we may see some real changes in regards to weight cutting. Is this a good or bad thing? Comment below!

MAIN EVENT:
Main Card

Stipe Miocic v. Daniel Cormier

The long anticipated rematch of two of the greatest heavyweights pound for pound. If this doesn’t get you excited I don’t know what will, this is a fight fourteen months in the making. A lot of people felt that Stipe was winning before a shot caught him inside the clinch, making Daniel Cormier champion of the Heavyweights and Light heavyweights. Daniel Cormier the 22-1 former wrestling Olympian, Daniel is regarded right now as the greatest active pound for pound fighter, he has dominated his divisions with his wrestling, fight IQ and outstanding boxing skills. For a short fat guy you wouldn’t expect him to be such a wrecking ball, he carries 10 of his wins by KO/TKO, 5 by submission and 7 by decision. He can quiet literately take the fight anywhere and beat you at your own game, his only loss comes as controversial, as his opponent had regularly been accused of steroid abuse. Daniel has to be one of the smartest fighters I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching, he uses his boxing so well, whether it be to finish a fight or setup a takedown, he’s a true master of the art.

Stipe Miocic was touted as the greatest heavyweight of all time until meeting Cormier in the octagon just fourteen months ago. Miocic had held the heavyweight belt for three consecutive defenses in an extremely volatile heavyweight division where nobody had defended more than twice before. Stipe is currently 18-3 in his professional mixed martial arts career. He, like his opponent, matches high level division I wrestling with crisp boxing. You have never quiet seen a heavyweight move like Stipe yet still present the power to knockout 14 goliaths at heavyweight. If he cant beat you on the feet he’s more than happy to drag you to the ground, drag out a decision or TKO you. There’s not a lot of holes to Stipes game, that’s what made him a world champion, and he does it all while carrying a fulltime job firefighting. The man is incredible and fun to watch and is sure to bring the fight to DC at UFC 241.

Between these two, they are the greatest heavyweights to ever fight for the UFC in my humble opinion. I personally think this rematch is long overdue, in the first fight it seemed like Stipe was working his boxing well, he was faster than DC, longer, and seemed to be in better shape, until DC caught him exiting the clinch with his right hand down by his waist. DC knocked him out clean, for comparison its nice to have this fight, we have already seen how their skills match. I believe this will be a high level boxing affair with a small mix of wrestling, I believe Stipe will be careful, remain fast and to the outside. The only thing that hasn’t been tested in this matchup is the wrestling, both present high level wrestling but its hard to say who is better, DC has traditionally wrestled smaller guys than what Stipe would be use to, despite the skill advantage, DC may lose that advantage to the size discrepancy, each fighter will likely cancel each others grappling out due to skill and size difference, this will remain a strikers bout. In which case I think Stipe is the better-conditioned fight and better boxer. I believe this fight will go deep but not reach a decision, its sure to be exciting, my prediction Is Stipe by 5th round TKO.
