Courage sits behind every act of positive progression for humanity.
Courage is fascinating, because it transcends scale; we see it in individual selfless acts of everyday life, through to our boldest collective movements and their leaders.
Our biology is hard wired for acts of physical courage, but we now leverage this inner drive towards being mentally courageous. We admire the art of persistence, even if it is just to be further in tune with ourselves.
What flourishes...are acts of courage all around us. The teacher who takes the extra hour, to work with a student that “the system” has written off. Articulate politicians who take a meaningful stand on divisive social issues. Athletes who dominate on the field, yet quietly still give back off it. Small business owners who have it all to lose…but keep working on their product because the world will be better off.
A better normal is one where we speak about mental bravery as much as physical, where we recognise the courage it takes to continually improve ourselves and those around us.
Our community and its inspirations have chosen to stick to their convictions. We are exploring what it means not to yield, what it means to come back from relative obliteration and how you continue to rise to influence, when the odds are stacked against you.
Our sense of courage is relative; more than we realise...many of us have space to help others be courageous.
Winston Churchill said: “Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities because it is the quality that guarantees all others.”
Validation, that the perfect place to start, is courage within yourself to seek out what you genuinely believe in.
