*NEW EPISODE IS OUT!*
We are more globalized than ever before. As markets integrate, so does information. Transnational flow of information poses new security risks and remains highly unregulated due to obvious international law limitations. Domestic information flow has also become more precarious due to the increased reliance by capitalist market societies on data. How protected are we? How can we secure our information?
In July 2020, two residents filed a lawsuit against Google, Amazon and Microsoft for using biometric data of their users without their consent violating Illinois’s Biometric Information Privacy Act. Facebook has also increasingly been accused of storing high volumes of user data and using it to influence user preferences.
In this week’s episode we discuss cybersecurity risks and contemplate ways of making data more secure with two cybersecurity professionals from the Silicon Valley.
