Shortly after @jimmy_rosemond was convicted of running a CCE, he was indicted of a conspiracy charge to commit murder.
The conspiracy was regarding the murder of G-Unit affiliate and Blood gang member Lowell Fletcher aka Lodi Mack, gunned down on September 27, 2009, in the Bronx.
The murder was connected to an assault on Rosemond's then 14-year-old son by Fletcher, Tony Yayo, and others.
@jimmy_rosemond would have three trials regarding this conspiracy.
In the attached audio snippet, YouTube blogger @crownedtvofficial recreates the court testimony of yet another government key cooperating witness, Brian "Slim" McCleod.
During our series, we'll look into all of the trial proceedings to try and get a clear picture of why it took three hearings to get a conviction.

The criminal justice system is a complex weave of politics, antiquated laws/procedures, power, and corruption in its simplest terms.
"dishonest or illegal behavior especially by powerful people (such as government officials or police officers)"
With 100 calls into Jimmy Rosemond over eight years, we've become pretty familiar with his stance on his CCE conviction. We've also extensively reviewed the court transcripts spoken with several individuals who were a part of or very familiar with his case.
We found and will reveal during our podcast series that Rosemond was in no way completely innocent. He was also not a drug kingpin, and a CCE charge carrying multiple life sentences should have never been levied against him. We believe, unfortunately for Rosemond, that he was unable to escape his past. Regardless of how much legitimate business he did to redeem himself, like many African American men, a wrong miscue, and the system will happily make an example out of you. As much as this is a story about Jimmy Rosemond...it's a story about the criminal justice system.

On Friday, October 25, 2013, the honorable Judge John Gleeson stated at @jimmy_rosemond sentencing "You're the kingpin. Not all kingpins necessarily deserve a life sentence but you certainly do." This despite Rosemond's trial being rife with informants and cooperating witnesses, whom without, the government wouldn't have had a case.
He left the bench, and in 2016 he would join Debevoise & Plimpton law firm as a trial and appellate lawyer.
The attached audio is an excerpt from an online interview in September 2021 in which Gleeson discusses how punitive and defective the criminal justice system is. He's also currently on the board of the Vera Institute of Justice. A company whose mission statement is "To end the over-criminalization and mass incarceration of people of color, immigrants, and people experiencing poverty."
We'll be attempting to reach out to Gleeson to see if he recollects his previous statements regarding Rosemond. If so, we'll share what Henry Butler said regarding his status as the "real Kingpin" and hear Gleeson's thoughts.

@jimmy_rosemond's Continuing Criminal Enterprise (CCE) case began May 14th, 2012. After 3 weeks of testimony, the jury would come back with a verdict on June 5th, 2012.
He was found guilty on all counts of heading up a bi-coastal CCE.
A local journalist who sat at the trial and took notice of one juror who appeared to be bothered as the guilty verdict was being delivered took the liberty to locate and interview the juror. In a 30 min recorded interview, Juror #4 expresses his regret for not holding out against the others as he pled with them to see that there was plenty of "reasonable doubt". His belief was the individuals who cooperated all did so with the specific intent to either avoid or severely reduce their sentences. The attached excerpt is from that interview. We'll be revealing more of his interview during the course of our series.

On May 17, 2012, @jimmy_rosemond alleged main drug supplier, Henry “Black” Butler took the stand. Butler, who appeared in a green prison jumpsuit, was facing 10 years to life in prison, after being charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, a firearms possession violation, and getting caught with hundreds of ecstasy tabs.
Butler was a Los Angeles gang member, was arrested in 2010, in Thousand Oaks, California, for his role in the alleged cocaine operation.
Butler told prosecutors that James Rosemond was his biggest cocaine customer.
In what appears to be a reoccurring theme in Rosemond's case, those arrested who worked independently would implicate Rosemond in their dealings. Which in turn helped the government frame their case around Rosemond as the "leader".
On the stand, one of the government's key witnesses, Butler said he has met with prosecutors at least 14 times after his arrest, with several sessions dedicated to testifying.
The possibility of life in prison without parole led Henry Butler to cooperate with authorities. He would only serve 3 years and 6 months.
Was Rosemond really the Kingpin?
