Severe Thunderstorm Warning including Baxter Springs KS, Columbus KS and Galena KS until 3:30 AM
Intense severe line is developing out west. This will start working into our western counties over the next couple of hours. However, it won't get to the metro until well after midnight. I don't think the storms will be out of here until 5-6AM. Main threat is large hail and wind gusts. Tornado threat is low but there.

Rural Baxter Springs Incident Ends When Suspect Takes His Own Life
A suspect fled into a wooded area after he reportedly struck a woman in the head with a gun, which had jammed when he attempted to shoot her west of Baxter Springs Tuesday afternoon
Just after 4:00 p.m., Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the scene and established a perimeter with assistance from the Baxter Springs Police Department, Kansas Highway Patrol and Quapaw Nation Marshal's Service. The Miami Oklahoma Police Department and Kansas Bureau of Investigation also responded to provide equipment support during the incident.
In addition to searching the wooded areas and fields within the vicinity, Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputies also searched a camper on the property. During the search, deputies located the suspect hiding in a closet at which time the suspect took his own life, dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The deceased suspect was identified as 46 year-old Joseph Gunsolus.
During the search for the suspect, the woman was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and released.
Update on the situation west of town, swat team has entered the house, the suspect is deceased at this time

UPDATED PRESS RELEASE FROM BAXTER SPRINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT REGARDING THE HOMICIDE AT 2400 LINCOLN
BAXTER SPRINGS, KS -
Update 1
The victims in this case have been identified as 47 year old Jeremy Murphy of Anderson MO, 59 year old Craig Guinn of Pineville MO, and 27 year old Seth Guinn of Pineville MO.
Jeremy Murphy and Craig Guinn were both found to have been deceased at the scene. Their bodies have been turned over to the Cherokee County Coroner pending an Autopsy later this week.
Seth Guinn was transported to Freeman Hospital where he is still listed in critical condition.
Initial Release
On 11-28-22 at 2:40 pm the Baxter Springs Police Department was dispatched to 2400 Lincoln reference to reported gunshots in the residence. The reporting party told dispatch that three people had been shot inside the residence.
Officers arrived on scene and immediately began life saving measures on the three victims that had been shot. A description of the suspect was immediately put out to responding officers. As officers were coming into the area, they located the suspect walking in the area. After a brief struggle the suspect was taken into custody by officers.
Two of the victims were found to be deceased on scene and the third was transported by Cherokee County EMS to Freeman Hospital with life threatening injuries. Names are not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
The suspect in this case has been identified as Kyle Butts age 41 of Independence MO. He is being held in the Cherokee County Jail pending formal charges by the Cherokee County Attorney’s Office.
This incident is being investigated by the Baxter Springs Police Department, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
It has been confirmed there was a double homicide in Baxter today! Two people are deceased from the earlier shooting please pray for there families
