A leader of a local club reached out to find out why I didn't support Al Hernandez for School Board.
Perhaps a better question would have been, for me to ask, why do you support him?
Al will be sworn in on Tuesday at 9:30 AM. He had a long battle both legally and to obtain the votes needed to be elected to the board. He was not able to win the Primary Outright, then he lost a battle in Circuit Court which was overturned.
Al has been very careful not to speak about anything specific as to what he will stand for on the board. Like the other two candidates that were elected in 2022, he has no children currently attending Pasco County Schools. It is not clear if his children attended Pasco County Schools or not. He does have children, unlike the other two who were recently re-elected to the school board.
Al raised over $100,000 for his School Board Race. Most of his money came from outside of Pasco County, and most was in $1,000 donations, of the money raised within the County $8,000 came from one office address.
I for one certainly hope that I am wrong about Al Hernandez.
We need board members who will stand up to our administration run by Superintendent Kurt Browning, who has worked for the government in Florida since 1975.
Hopefully, I am wrong and Al Hernandez will be the lone voice standing up for Students, Teachers, Staff, and Parents in Pasco County. Join me on Tuesday Morning to watch him be sworn in.
