BWARI AREA COUNCIL AND FEBRUARY 12, 2022: A DATE WITH HISTORY.

February 12, 2022 is a remarkable day and date in the existence of our dear Bwari Area Council, FCT.
A day of critical decision making. A day to choose between socio-economic cm political emancipation and, or retrogressive cm deceitful governance.

This opportunity comes once in a while. It came in the life of Lagos State, Imo State etc when Lateef Jakande, Dr. Sam Mbakwe respectively steered the affairs of the aforementioned States. NAFDAC once had taste of the positivity of having the right director.

Every society, organization, country, state or local council that has not got the opportunity of being governed by a dogged, pragmatic, sensible, result-oriented and visionary leader shall remain at sixes and sevens. A state of disarray and confusion.

The state or condition of any society is a function of leadership choice by the people of such a society.

For our dear Bwari Area Council, here's an opportune moment for us to critically appraise and re-appraise the current state of affairs. Are we comfortably off with the current administration? Where lies the fate of our vulnerable children, our indigent women, our unemployed youth and our very suffering men?; Where lies the conscience of the current administrators of the Council?
Why should a local council chairman in this country continue to present himself as a slave to the already established individuals?;
With impunity our very scarce resources are frequently submitted to these men of affluence because of our ruler's low self-esteem and in the name of remaining in the good books of the perceived political god-fathers.

Chai !!!, My Dear Bwari Area Council, when shall your uplift come? When comes your liberation? Where do we find your emancipator?.
In you, shall our hope become extinguished and our suffering perpetual? God forbid !!.

Unfortunately, I mean it is to my chagrin that even the very "elect" ( lettered) among us are deceived and obviously hoodwinked or hypnotised by the enticing words and pius behaviour of our celebrated trick-star..(.name withheld).

My prayer is that we shall not continue to grope in error's maze.
May we listen to our heart-beat and consequently elect a dogged, liberal-minded and result-oriented leader with demonstrated abilities to remain positively assertive even in the face of undue political influence.

Long live Bwari Area Council.
I am Ikenna Uwakwe, ACA.

...In Bwari Area Council of FCT, it has been very difficult to point to glaring efforts by the current government to improve the well-being of the vulnerable persons amongst us. This narrative has to change. A government that places all categories of citizens on equal footing is a government that deserves to be in place.
An Hon. Audi Shekwolo led government in Bwari Area Council will be capable of taking definite stance on improvement of the well-being of our women, children, the persons living with disabilities and the senior citizens".

EDITORIAL:
FG'S PANIC OVER RECESSION and WHY EVERYTHING IS AT SIXES AND SEVENS.
Helicopter's view has observed that the Federal Government of Nigeria is in panic over the current recession which the country has moved into. A number of hasty moves by the FGN have revealed that THEY are undoubtedly NERVOUS and HELPLESS, albeit they have maintained that it was occasioned by the outbreak of Covid-19.
During an NTA morning show of 25th November, 2020 known as " Good Morning Nigeria", the Information and Culture Minister stated that the recession was inevitable following the effects of Covid-19.
Faced with the twin problems of youth unemployment and poor economic management cm recession, a number of quick decisions and moves have been made by the government:
1. exemption of minimum wage earners from Personal Income Tax;
2. Attempting to re-open Land borders which have been closed for a long time;
3. Giving of stipends to the youth to assuage the ill feelings orchestrated by EndSars protest and its handling;
4.Quick signing of the amended BOFIA ( Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act)
5. etc.

The CBN governor and the Finance Minister have in separate ocassions unconsciously displayed their own panics. The outcome of the MPC meeting of the CBN where the monetary policy Rate ( MPR) was reduced from 12.5% to 11.5% whereas Cash Reserve Ratio, Liquidity Ratio and asymmetric corridor remained the same( For emphasis sake: asymetric corridor remains +100/-700 basis point around the MPR; CRR 27.5% ; Liquid Ratio 30% ) and some statements of assurance by the Finance Minister without believable facts all tend to expose their fear about whether Nigeria can truly quickly come out of this recession.
All of these moves by FGN will end up as trial and error.
Our view therefore is that the current recession cannot be attributed to covid-19. In short Covid-19 couldn't have contributed up to 10% of the recession.
The current recession was as a result of APC government's incoherence, poor economic policies and decisions. There has been no well thought out and implementable economic road map by the APC led Federal government. They have often been reactive to serious economic challenges.
The FGN under this leadership has raised Euro bonds more than any other government in the history of Nigeria;
They have increased VAT to a record high of 7.5%;
They have increased PMS to a record high of N170 pl;
Electricity Charges have been increased;
Foreign debt is unforgivably high;
Insecurity has been given a permanent residence;
Youth unemployment rate is indescribable;
Inflation rate is staggeringly high;
The Private sector is crippled;
Local production is abysmally low hence the contraction of the GDP by about 3.6%;
The future is not relevant to them hence the Education sector is relegated.

The Mistake: the government has spent a good deal financing the informal non regulated and non productive sector. Doom***
and, the government has resorted to uncontrollable borrowing. Doom Doom *****
The government has not sincerely fought insecurity . Doom Doom Doom ********

Could there be any hope for the foreseeable future?
Yes, But under either a different structure or a different government.
