In what can only be described as an “on the edge of your seat” race last night, Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock defeated Republican challenger Hershel Walker. This now grants the Democratic Party a 51-seat majority starting next year. This was to be somewhat expected, just 4 weeks ago Warnock edged Walker during the general election but was forced into a runoff due to neither candidate reaching the majority mark.

Walker had ground to makeup before last nights runoff and was partially successful in doing so with certain counties surrounding the Atlanta area.

Warnock had also gained some new advantages last night too. Successfully shaving of small (but critical) percentages or rural voters which countered any of Walkers urban gains.

Simply put, last night reaffirms what we’ve already learned from the general election just 4 weeks ago. Republicans have some leadership and management issues that must straighten out quickly. The Right cannot continue to underestimate the support Democrats still very much have despite our nations current condition and who’s in charge of it. Republicans really need to start targeting their election law concerns and issues with the early-voting process. Republicans have to find a way to also advance their appeal to a younger generation of voters, something the party could use improvement on.

Overall, it’s safe to say if Republicans are serious about taking control of the White House in 2024, drastic changes in leadership and election strategy is just around the corner.

Sen. Mitch McConnell successfully fends off fellow conservative challenger Sen. Rick Scott in a 37-10 vote for Minority leader.

McConnell found himself in hot water after a somewhat underwhelming performance for the Republican Party last Tuesday. The GOP Senate was certainly enticed with the opportunity to make a leadership change but ultimately will continue to move forward behind McConnell.
