Last of the two-day Compassion project accommodated meal packs and bottled drinking water for men/women manning the checkpoints in Barangays East Awang, Balud, Hamorawon, Carmen, Trinidad, Cagsalaosao, Amampacang, Anislag, Palanas-Cara, and Begaho.

Recipients for the day included the PNP Forces in First Samar Mobile Group in Palanas Cara and PNP Force Multiplier - Community Service with Integrity (CSI-IG) - Calbayog City Chapter.

Day 1 of 2 days in the Project provided meal packs to checkpoints in Barangays Carayman, Bagacay, Rawis, Obrero, San Policarpo, Gadgaran, Dagum, Payahan, Central and West Awang.

Included in our list were CAPOSO Night Shift Force, headed by P/Capt. Antonio Sabenicio who was still at his office working with his men at past 7PM of April 17.

Significant in Barangays Gadgaran and Dagum is the active participation of respective SK Chairmen and SK Councilors to man the checkpoints.

Presence of Barangay Officials in the checkpoints were also noted.

(The project implementation was graced with the participation of a mother of one of the Rotarians who is currently on vacation to the Philippines. . . More details in a feature story when 2 days of the Project is completed.)

The Rotary Club of Greater Calbayog with the leadership of Club President Ligaya N. Bagsarsa (2019-2020), successfully conducted a bloodletting activity on February 14, 2020 at the University Clinic of Northwest Samar State University on February 14, 2020.

With the aim of helping the government in its endeavor to save lives by maintaining ready supply in hospital blood banks, the support of the the Samar Provincial Health Staff who came all the way from their mother station at Samar Provincial Capitol to give support and lend assistance in the collection from blood donors was significant to the activity of the Rotarians.

The PNP-Special Action Force (SAF) were the first group of volunteers/donors who came as early as 8:30 AM.

Forces from the PNP-Regional Mobile Force also signified support to the activity with several of them coming to the activity to donate blood.

Several of NWSSU employees and students also submitted themselves for blood donation.

The Rotary Club of Greater Calbayog (RCGC) - Team Club President Ligaya - conducted the "Provision of WheelChairs and Walking Frames" Activity in Calbayog City on January 24, 2020. RCGC President Ligaya Norona-Bagsarsa was in the company of co-Rotarians Christian Gomez, Moneth Canlas, Merma Merino and Josephine Mendoza. Candidate-Member Morena Pepito also witnessed the activity.

Four (4) beneficiaries availed of 2 wheelchairs & 2 walking frames, namely:

In behalf of the RCGC President Ligaya N. Bagsarsa, Public Image Director Josephine M. Mendoza received the plaque on December 17, 2019.

The Rotary Club - Greater Calbayog conducted a community activity in Barangay Canmuros, a remote village situated about 10 kilometers off Maharlika national highway in Sta. Margarita Samar on December 8, 2019. Before the newly constructed concrete road was completed in September 2019, the barangay was an isolated village where the economy is centered only on farming - coconut, vegetables, root crops, bananas and fruit trees.

All of the 73 families were provided of food packs containing rice, sardines, noodles and 3-in-one coffee.

Eighty-five children received gift packs containing biscuits, snack food, fruit juice, candies and chocolates for their Christmas party on December 12.

Branded school bags (backpacks) were provided to 12 high school students belonging to 12 different families. The students go to a national high school in the municipality's urban area.

After the relief operations and gift giving, 120 cups of hot arroz caldo were served to children, senior citizens and other residents of the community.

The community activity was spearheaded by RCGC President Ligaya N. Bagsarsa, and Rotarians Christian Gomez, Bryan delos Santos, Merma Merino and Josephine Mendoza with guest participants Morena Pepito-Alegria, Rhea Barageno and Ms.Shirley and Mr. Athan.

The activity, being a request/proposal of PMaj. Cagampang (the previous municipal OIC-COP), was in partnership with the Philippine National Police - Sta. Margarita Station headed by the current OIC-COP PLt. Eriberto S. Mabini. The OIC-COP was in company to the community together with some of his police forces, namely PMsg Macacunal Sidic, Jr., PMSg. Julius Bartolome, PCpl Gerry Mengote, PCpl. Genaro Marito, Jr., PCpl. Eleazar Hungriano, PCpl. Ryan Comilang, and PCpl. Margil Notron.

The Rotary Club of Greater Calbayog will be conducting an activity with the "Ready Reserved Infantry Batallion, 803 CDC, 8TH ID covering areas of Rotary programs in:

(1) Peace & Conflict Resolution Awareness; and
(2) Education and Literacy on Ready Reserved Services.

The Ready Reserved Battalion will be treated to a boodle fight serving for lunch.

The activity will be held at the Northwest Samar State University on November 16, 2019 (11:00 AM)

This activity is inspired by the celebration of the Children's Month in November 2019, thus hosted by the Rotary Club of Greater Calbayog and made exclusively for the children.

It was participated in by fifty-one (51) children from families of all walks of life who came in with ghostly make-up and costumes.

Aside from treats received by all of participants, RCGC gave out cash rewards to 5 contest winners, two (2) early birds, and 16 consolation (cash) prizes for costumes and participation.
