CUJ commemorates third anniversary of NEP 2020
Central University of Jammu celebrated the momentous occasion of three years of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Today CUJ organised a press conference in Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium by addressing the media on successful completion of 3-years of NEP 2020. The press conference was addressed by the Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CUJ, Dr. J. N. Baliya, Head, Department of Educational Studies, Dr. Ritu Bakshi, Dean Students’ Welfare, and Prof. Suram Singh, Controller of Examination. The programme was conducted as part of Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam.
Addressing the media, Prof. Jain said that NEP 2020 mainly envisions to instill in learners a deep sense of pride in being Indian, not just in thought but also in spirit, intellect, and deeds. It also aims to help students develop knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes that support their commitment to upholding human rights, promoting sustainable living, and other sustainable goals. He further talked about the various steps and reforms taken in CUJ to bring the desired transformation in higher education like revamping the curricular practices by focusing on outcome-based curricular structures, holistic education through multidisciplinary approaches, initiation of start-up policy etc. He added that all efforts are being made to equip the students with 21st century skills like critical thinking, decision making, problem-solving etc. to prepare them for various opportunities across the nation and abroad as envisioned in NEP 2020.
The Vice Chancellor also highlighted the goal of achieving institutional excellence in line with NEP 2020, which goes beyond disciplinary lines and envisions inter- and trans-disciplinary teaching and research.
Secondly, Dr. J.N. Baliya said that the CUJ is working tirelessly for the effective implementation of the policy by organizing a series of interactive academic programs, workshops, seminars/webinars, panel discussions to create awareness and sharing insights to contribute in making education Bharat-centric and bringing qualitative improvement by suggesting a road map for effective implementation of the policy.
Dr. Ritu Bakshi, in her address shared that CUJ is taking all the steps to involve the students in the effective implementation of NEP 2020 by organising various awareness seminars, workshops, hands-on training of Academic Bank of Credits, awareness on multiple entry-exit system. She further talked about the relevance of Indian Knowledge System in the contemporary times and informed that the university is working for the curriculum integration of IKS-based courses, skills, subjects etc. that empowers the learners with varied capacities. She opined that this transformative policy acts as a catalyst not only in inculcating the requisite skills and talents rooted in the Indian ethos and culture but also in restoration and transmission of Indian cultural heritage and glory of India as Vishwaguru in context of knowledge.
Prof. Suram Singh while providing worthful insights stressed upon various curriculum and pedagogical aspects like holistic assessment of learners, flexibility in examinations, e-assessment portal etc. He further highlighted the successful implementation of Learning Management System, MOODLE to monitor the learners’ performance, e- content delivery and enhance learning outcomes in Central University of Jammu.

*SAMBA POLICE ARRESTS HUSBAND FOR MURDERING HIS WIFE AT RAMGARH*

Samba, July 20 : Samba Police has arrested husband for gruesomely murdering his wife at Ramgarh in Samba district.

A case FIR No. 40/2023 u/s 302 IPC has been registered at Police Station Ramgarh, post-mortem of the deceased has been got conducted through the board of doctors and after completing all legal formalities, accused has been arrested by police & subjected to sustained interrogation.

The accused has been identified as Sunil Kumar alias Sunny Lambad s/o Darshan Kumar Choudhary r/o Ramgarh district Samba.

24 year old young housewife having two year old girl child was gruesomely murdered by her husband and police teams headed by SDPO Vijaypur & SHO Police Station Ramgarh under the supervision of Addl. SP Samba Surinder Choudhary immediately swung into action and arrested the accused without giving him time to escape from the district though he had fled from the scene of crime immediately after committing murder but police tightened all nakas in the district, alerted nafri in the entire district & nabbed him.

Deceased Rimpy of Ramgarh had entered into nuptial knot with her husband Sunil alias Sunny Lambad who is also a resident of Ramgarh nearly four years ago. They had one girl child also but Sunil, a cruel husband as he was, committed cold-blooded murder of his virtuous and faithful wife Rimpy, fled from the spot but has been apprehended by police.

Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh said that murder case has been registered at Police Station Ramgarh, accused husband has been arrested and further investigation is going on.

NCB, ANTF AND JKP CONDUCTED DESTRUCTION OF SEIZED NARCOTIC DRUGS AND PSYCHOTROPIC SUBSTANCES ON LARGE SCALE.

In a major drive to wipe out the menace of drug abuse from society under the Union Governments program Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, ANTF Jammu Zone in collaboration with NCB, JKP and Judiciary has taken major leap forward and destroyed around around 6727 kgs of different narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances at Samba. The destruction is carried out by incineration in a controlled manner as proved under rules to avoid any harm to the environment. This is just a start of the process and in coming days all the drugs lying in all the Police godowns, ANTF Godowns and Court Godowns shall be destroyed in this manner and as per law laid down so that the society can be free from the menace of drug. In this new initiative taken pan India by Honourable Union Home Minister, .We thank the Judiciary which also played a big role.

KVK Samba celebrates 95th ICAR Foundation Day & Technology Day

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samba of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu celebrates 95th ICAR Foundation Day & Technology Day at KVK Samba today on 16-07-2023 under the dynamic leadership of Prof. B.N.Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu,SKUAST-Jammu. 133 farmers/farm women actively participated in the programme. On this Occasion, an exhibition was also organized, where different types of specimens, exhibits and agricultural tools and implements were displayed.
Initially, the programme was started by Dr. Sanjay Khajuria, Chief Scientist & Head, KVK Samba. He welcomed all the farmers and highlighted the importance of 95th ICAR Foundation Day. He stressed upon the need to practice various Innovative Agricultural Practices in order to ensure the soil and human health and make agriculture more profitable. He also assured the farmers that they will be trained in various aspects of innovative farming, including preparation of inputs, enriching soil and value addition of fruits and vegetables. He explained in detail to the farmers about the main purpose of organizing the awareness camp to sensitize farmers about the Innovative Agricultural Practices, which is the present need of hour.
Dr.Neerja Sharma Senior Scientist Horticulture discussed in detail about the various post-harvest and value addition of the fruits and vegetables in the Samba district, so that their income can be increased to manifold.Dr. Abhay Kumar Sinha, Senior Scientist Agricultural Engineering described that Farm Mechanization has proved a game changer in the field of Agriculture under which introduction of Farm Machinery like tractors, tillers, farm machinery banks, Custom hiring centers, manual w**ders, Irrigation Pump sets, Brush Cutters, innovative farm tools to the farmers has reduced farm drudgery to a greater extent.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Saurav Gupta, Scientist, Entomology briefed in detail about the importance of innovative farming as it offers a solution to various problems, such as food insecurity, farmers’ distress, and health problems arising due to pesticide and fertilizer residue in food and water, global warming, climate change and natural calamities. He also discussed about different ways to control various insects –pests and diseases of major crops of Samba district through various innovative farming techniques. Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharma Scientist, Animal Sciences discussed the various welfare schemes of central and state governments in animal husbandry sector. He also sensitized about the different parasitic diseases of livestock, their prevention and control strategies.Dr. Shalini, Programme Assistant, KVK Samba emphasized the importance of soil in agricultural productivity. She stressed upon that farmers should use organic farming techniques to promote soil health. Dr.Amit Mahajan discussed in detail about the various w**d management practices in the kharif crops. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Saurav Gupta. Others who participated in the programme include Sh. Bharat Bhushan, Sh. Tajinder Singh and Sh. Pawan Singh.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Samba inaugurates Kargil War Heroes District Level Cricket Tournament

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Samba, Sh. Abhishek Sharma on Saturday inaugurated the Grand Opening of the Kargil War Heroes District Level Cricket Tournament at Shubham Khajuria Cricket Academy (SKCA) Sports Stadium 17 Miles, Tehsil Vijaypur, Samba.

The nine-day tournament has been organized by Vahin Cricket Club as a tribute to the Kargil Wars Heroes. The best performers of the tournament will further be shortlisted in the team for Jammu Division for Inter-Division Super Sixteen Cricket Tournament.

A large gathering attended the opening ceremony of the tournament including locals, PRIs and government functionaries etc.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Samba stated that organizing such tournaments is an excellent way to promote sports and to keep the youth away from the evil of drugs abuse by channeling the energy of the youth in positive directions, He further emphasized that these endeavors are imperative to inspire more and more youth to take up sports as a career option.

Teams from all Blocks of the district participated in the tournament and the inaugural match was played between team Vijaypur and team Samba. The Samba 11 team defeated the Vijaypur team in the first match.

Sh Abhishek Sharma also interacted with the players and appreciated them for taking part in sporting activities. He also hailed Vahin Cricket Club for dedicating the event to Kargil wars heroes and providing such opportunities to the local youth.

He said the government has taken keen interest to provide the best sports facilities to the youth of Jammu & Kashmir and several playgrounds have been developed in at least every Panchayat the DC assured that said more measures will be taken to involve the youth in sports activities so that they are trained to play professionally not only for the leisure time.

The chief guest, Sh. Abhishek Sharma, IAS was accompanied by Sarpanch Samba , Supwal, Mr Aatish by Vahin cricket association District, Samba, under whose supervision the Tournament was conducted.

Samba, July 12 : Samba Police today arrested two notorious narco-suppliers and recovered he**in worth rupees 50,000.00 approximately, o***m straw weighing 1.450 Kg & cash to the tune of rupees 12,460.00.

The arrested narco-suppliers have been identified as Govind Sharma s/o Kuldeep Kumar r/o Samba and Sham Sunder s/o Tillo Ram r/o Chak Salarian Ramgarh district Samba.

Govind Sharma has been arrested red-handed in the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur and from his possession He**in “Chitta” worth rupees 50,000.00 approx. & cash worth rupees 12,460.00 has been recovered, and case FIR No.84/2023 u/s 8/21/22/27-A/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur, whereas Sham Sunder has been arrested red-handed in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ramgarh, from his possession 1.450 Kg o***m straw has been recovered, and case FIR No. 38/2023 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ramgarh.

The narco-suppliers were arrested by the police parties of Police Station Vijaypur and Police Station Ramgarh under the direct supervision of Addl. SP Samba Surinder Choudhary.

Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh said that total sixty (60) narco-suppliers have been arrested by Samba police in the past six months and illicit narco-business has been eradicated from the district to the greater extent.

Samba administration conducts massive cleanliness drive on banks of River Devika in Purmandal

JAMMU, JULY 11: To promote cleanliness on the holy land of Purmandal, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Samba Abhishek Sharma today launched a massive Cleanliness drive along the River Devika and its surrounding areas.

This community mobilization cm sanitation drive was organized in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism Jammu, the Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, and the Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority. As part of the campaign, garbage, plastics etc were removed from the banks of the river. The general public was also sensitized on the importance of maintaining cleanliness.

A large number of people, members of PRIs, and NSS volunteers of Government Degree College Purmandal, besides officers of Civil and Police Administration also participated in the campaign. A plantation drive was also conducted at Sangar Morh, Purmandal.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the holy site of Purmandal holds great cultural and religious value for the people of J&K and it should be the utmost priority of all to maintain the sanctity of the sacred Devika River. He called upon the public to discard the use of polythene, maintain hygiene, adopt best waste management practices and segregation and keep the water resources clean. He also thanked all the participants and appealed to them to join hands with the District Administration in future endeavors of cleanliness.

*78 BOVINE SMUGGLERS ARRESTED, 62 FIRs REGISTERED IN FIVE & HALF MONTHS : SSP SAMBA BENAM TOSH*

Samba, July 4 : Under the overall supervision of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, Police has arrested notorious bovine smuggler wanted in a case of bovine smuggling registered at Police Station Samba.

Arrested notorious bovine smuggler has been identified as Abdul Majid s/o Gulam Rasool r/o Bage-Bahu Jammu.

The arrested notorious bovine smuggler was wanted by Samba Police in a case FIR No. 159/2023 u/s 188/429 IPC, 11 PCA registered at Police Station Samba through Police Post Supwal.

The arrest has been made by the Police team headed by Incharge Police Post Supwal PSI Deepika Jalotra under the supervision of SHO Police Station Samba Rajeshwar Singh and DySP Garu Ram.

Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh said that total 78 bovine smugglers have been arrested by Samba Police in five and half months after the launch of special drive, sixty two (62) FIRs have been registered against bovine smugglers, fifty two (52) vehicles used for bovine smuggling have been seized and six hundred thirty eight (638) bovine animals have been rescued in Samba district.

Manjit Singh demands holding of assembly elections in J&K

Says further delay in polls will widen gap between administration, people


VIJAYPUR, July 01, 2023: - Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh has demanded holding of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir following the completion of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
“The security situation has normalized for the last several years and tourism has witnessed a boom both in Jammu and Kashmir. In the emerging situation, the Election Commission of India should not delay the holding of the assembly elections in J&K,” said the Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh addressing a monthly meeting of party leaders, and workers here at Vijaypur.
He said that recently the Govt of India had successfully organized a G20 summit in Srinagar and accordingly, a Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is being held in J&K that proves that the situation is very much suitable for the assembly elections that should be conducted without denying it further after the conclusion of the above said yatra.
“As the people are in great distress, and feeling of despair is increasing day by day in absence of an elected Govt. The bureaucracy has not been able to continue with the process of development that has led to the feeling of alienation among the people,” he added.
He further added that the administration has not been able to win the confidence of the people with its failure to conduct transparent recruitment processes, stalled development, no accountability, no public grievance redressal monitoring at ground level, rural / urban areas without proper clean drinking water and electricity supply.
“The issues of border villagers, irrigational, refugees, Displaced Persons, proprietary rights, agricultural issues, growing unemployment, declining health care facilities, poor educational facilities etc still to be addressed even as several years have passed,” he said further while highlighting the issues confronted by the people.
He said that the restoration of democratic system will end the growing concerns of the people in both the regions of Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, he referred to various other issues regarding the strengthening of the party in Samba district, blocks and village level.
He directed the party cadre to work on the ground and highlight the issues of the people for the early redressal and intensify their door to door campaign.

*SAMBA POLICE ARRESTS 3 NOTORIOUS BOOTLEGGERS*

Samba, May 17 : Continuing its drive against illicit liquor sale launched on the directions of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, police has arrested three (03) notorious bootleggers and recovered from their possession desi illicit liquor along with utensils & still apparatus used for manufacturing illicit desi liquor. Huge quantity of desi lahaan was also destroyed on the spot.

The three arrested bootleggers have been identified as Sham Lal s/o Mansa Ram r/o Majalta district Udhampur, Khurshid Ali s/o Hakam Din r/o Tara tehsil Dansal district Jammu and Puran Singh s/o Jaimal Singh r/o Dassian tehsil Ghagwal district Samba. A case FIR No. 113/2023 u/s 48(a)/48(b)/48(e)/48(f) Excise act was registered at Police Station Samba through PP Goran and investigations have been started.

The arrests have been arrested by a police team comprising of Incharge Police Post Goran PSI Sajid Jaral under the supervision of SHO Police Station Samba Rajeshwar Singh, Deputy SP Garu Ram Bhardwaj and Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary.

Directs to impart training according to the changing scenario

Jammu, March 04: Director General of Police, J&K Shri Dilbag Singh today visited Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI), Vijaypur where he inaugurated various facilities for the trainees and staff besides addressing the darbar of trainees, staff & officers of the Institute. He was accompanied by ADGP Headquarters PHQ Shri M. K. Sinha ADPG Coordination PHQ Shri Danesh Rana, DIG Training PHQ Shri Imtiaz Ismail Parrey and AIG (T&P) PHQ, Shri J. S. Johar. He was received by Principal PTTI Vijaypur SSP Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma and other officers & staff of the Institution.

On his arrival, DGP J&K was presented Guard of Honour by the trainees where after he inaugurated the newly constructed Quarter Guard. He then inaugurated various facilities which included Automobile Workshop & Hydraulic Lift, Conference Hall in Indoor Block, Canteen Block and Modular Kitchen. He also inaugurated sports facilities including Synthetic Badminton Court and Net Practicing Cricket Pitch. He also visited Disaster Management Outdoor Lab and took stock of the training curriculum of said course. SSP Samba Shri Benam Tosh, SP Rural Traffic Jammu Shri Ranjeet, Vice Principal PTTI Vijaypur Shri Rajinder Singh and Staff were also present on the occasion.

DGP J&K later launched PTTI Website at Conference Hall and also handed over ISO Certification to Principal PTTI Vijaypur thus becoming the first J&K Police Training Institute to have received this certificate.

While interacting with the officers, DGP directed the Principal PTTI to underline the technical courses which would be conducted in future in view of changing scenario and new challenges. While interacting with the mechanical training faculty, DGP directed for imparting additional skills to the trainees in order to meet the growing demand in Police workshops. He stressed for upgrading and enhancing technical skills of the team deputed at the Institute. He impressed upon the Principal to chalk out the programme for conducting interaction between trainees with the nearby Schools students besides organizing trekking activities. He directed for identifying areas of excellence and subsequently working on them in every J&K Police training centre. While inspecting various technical labs, DGP emphasized for making available modern technical tools to enable trainees get familiar to new technology.

Principal PTTI gave a PowerPoint Presentation regarding the functioning of the Institute. He apprised DGP regarding various objectives, activities and achievements of the institution besides facilitates available in the institution. He also briefed about various activities conducted under the Civic Action Programme.

Addressing the Darbar, DGP said that I am glad to interact with the officers & staff and to know about the various initiatives taken and their importance in improving the training. He appreciated the incumbent Principle SSP Shri Shiv Kumar Sharma and also former Principal SSP Shri Khalid Poswal for taking various initiatives to improve the basic training facilities as well as for upgrading the training capacity. He said that though facilities available are satisfactory there is always room for improvement according to the changing scenario. He emphasized on providing training with latest technology & equipment and organize modules in order to match the present day demands. He also appreciated staff of the institute for their contribution and also extended his gratitude to the visiting faculty for their support in enhancing the capability of the trainees. He assured all possible help and assistance to improve the training facilities in the centre adding that upgrading and improving the training centre is always on priority of Police Headquarters. He said that JK Police has emerged as an elite force in the country and thus requires special training courses at every stage of service with focus on emerging requirements.

While speaking to the media, DGP said that Poonch-Rajouri Sector has been affected with cross border narco-trade for some time now. “Pakistan is pushing drugs to generate funds for terrorism activities, J&K Police along with CAPFs is responding to each and every evil design strongly”, DGP added. He said that yesterday a huge consignment of drugs, arms and cash has been seized in Poonch regarding which some inter-state connections are emerging, the matter is being looked into, further details would be shared in coming times. He said that Pakistan and its agencies are continuously attempting to push terrorists here and also recruit young people in terror ranks besides to create some terror support system. He said that comprehensive strategies and plans are in place to foil all inimical attempts.

*SAMBA POLICE BUSTS GANG OF THIEVES INVOLVED IN CATTLE THEFTS, NOTORIOUS KINGPIN “VEER” AMONG 2 ARRESTED*

Samba : Under the guidance of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, Police have busted a gang of thieves involved in cattle thefts and arrested two (02) thieves including notorious kingpin of the gang nicknamed “Veer”, affected recovery and seized vehicle.

Arrested notorious kingpin of the gang of thieves has been identified as Shabir Ahmed Bokad alias Veer s/o Mohd. Yousaf r/o Margan Gadwail Danipora Anantnag and another arrested thief has been identified as Balvinder Singh alias Nikka s/o Fouja Singh r/o Raika Labanah Ramgarh. Vehicle used in thefts has also been seized by Police.

This gang of thieves used to steal cattle from the cattle yards during midnight hours after breaking walls & barging into houses and used to sell stolen cattle to the bovine smugglers. Police have also affected recovery of stolen calf from their possession and arrested accused have been put to sustained interrogation so as to struck further leads.

Arrests were made by police team comprising of SDPO Vijaypur Priyanka Kumari and SHO police station Vijaypur Tribhawan Khajuria under the supervision of Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary.
