It always hit me like this watching the old sea adventure movies ... middle of the ocean and remote in the world. You see another ship and spend days getting near enough that you can hurl cannonballs at each other... Yikes!

Thunderstorms threatened to derail progress on the aft locker hatch build today... but ta-da the new Halcyon water base varnish to the rescue. With the low/no fumes properties, the job moved to the engine room. Yay 5 coats today (5 more tomorrow methinks)

All hands on deck for some gripping adventures aboard Colony II! We’re in the process of renovating CII’s deck with a new flavor of non-skid from down under... Kiwigrip! Maybe the work days are better described as all hands and knees on deck ha-ha. We’re 33 feet into the job as of today with 11 feet to go to complete the starboard side.

An interesting part of the adventure, aside from never having done a non-skid deck before, comes with using two new to me products, Alexseal paint for the shiny parts and Kiwigrip for the non skid. So far, I’m liking the results if not the hands (and knees) on work. Now plz all hold hands and wish me good weather there’s still 50 some feet to go.

PS: I’ll do a blog post later with more of the nitty gritty details.
