Let's talk about Nex. Nex Benedict was a 16 year old, non binary, Cherokee, high school student who lived in Owasso Oklahoma. They had a straight A average, a fierce sense of style, a supportive family, and a cat named Zeus.

********trigger warning, this story turns violent.********

On February 7th, Nex and their friend, who is trans, were assaulted in a bathroom at Owasso High School by 3 older girls (fellow students), during school hours. There was yet another student in the bathroom who witnessed this event, and a teacher right outside the door. The student witness fled the bathroom after two whole minutes, and brought the teacher in to pull the girls off Nex. In that time, the 3 older students beat Nex viciously, slamming their head against the tile floor. Less than 24 hours later Nex collapsed and died.

Police are still "unsure" their death was caused by the incident in the bathroom... something they're calling a "fight" not an assault.

Owasso is silent. No students have spoken out, no teachers, no parents. Nex's mother and grandmother are their only voice. Owasso is silent as a tomb, which is fitting because it buries things.

If these girls had been in a mutually aggressive, equally matched fight, that was in no way motivated by hate, don't you think they would be yelling about their innocence right now? Don't you think their parents and friends would be too? You don't hide from a misunderstanding you hide from a hate crime.

Do I want to dox teenagers? of course not.... but do I find it HIGHLY suspicious that no one else has? Frankly yes, I do. Right or wrong, minors have never been exempt from the court of public opinion in this country, so who's hiding these kids... and why? I think you know the answers.

We will cover this case in full once a little more information is available, but for now now: Their name was Nex. They were nonbinary. They were native. They were loved. They deserved to grow up. Don't forget them.
