WHERE IS OUR FREEDOM | This first post is very special since this event was what motivated me to start this project. The death of George Floyd at the hands of a white police officer in Minneapolis has sparked a chain of protests in multiple US cities. Thousands of people have taken over the streets with the intention of expressing their contained rage provoked by the relentless abuse, humiliation, and persecution. George Floyd’s death is only one of thousands that have been taken at the hands of racist and corrupt policemen. And racism cases, unfortunately, happen every day, on the street, in the subways, in stores, even in the judicial system. So, where is our freedom? How many more will they have to kill to understand how immoral and inhumane racism is?
The impotence generated by seeing George Floyd’s death must not go unpunished, justice must be done for him and for the rest that have suffered, not only at the hands of racist policemen, but at the hands of racist people.
What can we learn from this? Well, we must learn to respect everyone, regardless of their race, gender, religion, beliefs or other, and gradually eliminate the prejudices and stereotypes that exist in our society, so that we can all live together without fear.
