Is it time to unplug?
Lately you may have noticed your news feed getting a little dark, with news of crime, death, and despair. Did you know that social media can lead to anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues?
Even if you like listening to the podcast, we encourage you to take some time to unplug -whether it be an hour a day, a day a week, or a few days a month. Take some time away from social media to take care of your mental health and yourself. Your mental health matters!

As a precursor to tonight’s new episode, I begin with a photo of the contact information for the National Sexual Assault Hotline.
According to RAINN (the R**e, Abuse and In**st National Network), 1 in every 6 women and 1 in every 10 men have been victims of sexual assault. You are NOT alone.
RAINN provides many resources on self-care and self guidance to sexual assault and abuse. If you would like more information on resources or would like to donate, visit www.RAINN.org.

Well the day is here - our first Mental Health Monday!
Today I, Lauren, am discussing a fortune cookie I received tonight at dinner (Chinese, my favorite). Something as small as a fortune cookie made me sit and think about my mental health. Attached is a picture of my fortune. You’re probably thinking - “oh what on Earth does that mean?” Well, from what I gathered on this statement is that you shouldn’t spend your life worrying your life away.
Here lately I have been fairly open about my struggles with anxiety and worry. If you face these issues, just know that you’re not alone. According to the National Institute of Health, approximately 31% of people will deal with an anxiety disorder some time in their life. That’s more than 1 in 4 people!
There are many ways to cope with anxiety, such as therapy, medication, etc. I felt as though it was important to list some various organizations that can be of assistance if you are struggling with anxiety.
•National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI): (800) 950-6264
•Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA): (240) 485-1001
•National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH): (866) 615-6464

We hope you all have had the opportunity to listen to our latest episode discussing Amanda Tusing’s unsolved case.
We have discussed different ways to get involved with you all on social media, so, we decided to start “Mental Health Mondays!”
With us choosing the career path of social work, we strongly advocate for the importance of mental health and taking care of ourselves. We are using Mondays to reflect on the importance of our mental health. Of course our Mental Health Monday post is falling on a Thursday this week, but look for a new post every Monday. This could be anything like discussing a specific mental illness, quotes from professionals in the mental health field, and other helpful information. We are so looking forward to it! 🖤

Abnormal Arkansas: Exploring the Unexplained
Hello strangers,
Welcome to Abnormal Arkansas. This page is dedicated to exploring strange occurrences, disappearances, urban legends and true crime within the state of Arkansas and the Mississippi Delta.
The natural beauty, foliage, and its citizens’ Southern hospitality draws thousands of tourists to the south, but what most of these visitors can’t see is the area’s history and mysteries. Arkansas is famous for a monster that lurks through the woods of Miller county, known as the Fouke monster, and even the crazed, self-proclaimed doctor who inhabited The Crescent Hotel of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The Mississippi Delta is a hub for unexplained activity.
We are dedicated to giving you stories of the abnormal side of the South. For more stories and posts, follow us on our pages: linktr.ee/abnormalarkansas.
