Help! I need someone to practice my life story interviewing, photo scanning and videoing skills.

I’m in training to be a Life Story Advocate with a company called Nicholas Fern.

This company requires me to certify so I need someone who wants to have their life story written and get it for half price.

If you or someone you know would like a half price deal and get not only their life story done but also get photo scanning, a story video and a legacy locket please let me know. (A legacy locket has a video of your advice for your children/grandchildren.)

The process takes about 3-5 visits and I simply ask 24 questions, record a favorite story and your advice.

Cost is normally $1499, you will only pay $749 (and only $374 up front and $374 when I personally deliver your life story book and legacy locket to you).

Nicholas Fern specializes in providing services for seniors (or anyone) to help them leave their legacy through story and video that is engaging and inspiring for the next generation.

Many of you know that I have tried to launch my own part-time business doing almost this exact same thing. Honestly, it hasn't been too successful. Yet, I keep trying. It's just something I've wanted to do for so long.

So when I was told that there was a company that is doing the same thing and is hiring and that I should apply and join with a more experienced group of women with the same goals and feelings towards preserving people's life stories and helping them feel loved and wanted, I applied right away!

I like that it is part-time. I can set my own hours. That I can fill that need within me to do my dream now, while still being a good wife and mother and walk my dog. It adds to my life in a good, positive way and so far I have enjoyed the journey.

Love when memories pop-up!

Another river run with Daisy. I don't understand it. My husband is determined to bring our dog with us.

It was all fine until Daisy slipped off the kayak and the current took her to the side. She hopped off and was now lost in the tall grass of the riverbank. We yelled at her to come back as we continued to float downstream. Daisy finally peaked her head up and came to shore just when my sister-in-law yelled, "There's barbed-wire!" Sure enough there was a low barbed-wire fence right below where Daisy was running. I had to close my eyes as I said that this is like watching a bad movie and I can't watch.

Daisy miraculously made it through the fence and my husband swam back to catch her. My brother-in-law got off his tube to stand as anchor for us so my husband and the dog could catch up to us.

It was quite the adventure! Again, why did we bring the dog on the river???

It’s T-ball season!!

Anyone T-ball moms out there?

Sports were a big part of my childhood. I played softball from 5th grade to my sophomore year of high school when I broke my ankle stealing third. I was safe, by the way. But little did that do me when I got up to lead off and my whole foot and leg went tingly and I collapsed to the ground. ☹️😩. I didn’t cry until my mom showed up. Then all the tears came. Funny how that happens. 😭

Good memories. Stinky cast, end of my sports’ high school life since I missed volleyball tryouts. But it all turned out just fine. Better even. When one door closes, another one opens.

This picture gives me hope.

This flower is growing and thriving when her surroundings would suggest it's not possible.

This picture was taken by daughter last year at the Craters of the Moon National Park in Idaho. If you've ever been there you know that it's unlike most National Parks. Its mostly flatland of dark lava rock that has been left from non-active volcanoes.

I enjoy and appreciate nature. It teaches us things. I can see God in the fine details. In this moment of my life, this beautiful flower teaches me to have hope when my surroundings would suggest it's not possible to do so. 😊

See that thing? That thing that little Katie's holding up by its tail?

That's a salamander, innocent thing that it is.

This photo was taken a few years back. But it brings to mind the awful story of when we brought home one of the salamander's in a box. Or was it an old ice cream bucket? Such a sweet gift from the cousins. (Yes, that is said sarcastically.) The drive home was 5 or 6 hours. I was driving and stopped for gas. All the kids piled out to stretch their legs. All but one. This child, who will remain un-named, all though we can easily de-duce who it is, was frantically moving things about in the van. I noticed and had a big hunch what was going on.

Sure enough, the slimy salamander had escaped its box!! "How could you let this happen?" "Keep looking! You have to find it before I leave this place." And so on I went in my amazing parenting communication skills.

It was not to be found. I couldn't believe that I was to drive TWO more hours knowing that, that THING was roaming about. But what was there more to do? So we piled in the van and got ready to take off.

And you'll NEVER guess who I found right by my FOOT and the GAS pedal???? Ohhh, the rush of terror was worse than I thought! But was quickly replaced with relief. Sweet relief that I would not have to worry, or so I thought! JK, we made it home without any other escapees on the loose.

I don’t mind keeping a few of the real cute or special ones, but not every one!

For years I’ve taken pictures of them and add them to my photo books. That way we can actually see them and remember them.

This page was fun to make because I surprised everyone by dressing up like a clown! I don't like attention drawn to myself unless I want it. Does that make sense? So, needless to say, I surprised everyone at our Halloween Carnival and it was AWESOME!!! No one expected me to show up in full clown glory.

The other cool part about being a clown is that my grandma made the costume--even the wig!! How cool is that?? My mom said that my grandma made it for her son for a school thing back in the 70's.

One other funny thing is that a lady who was there told me that her mom went to clown school when she was young and it was probably in the 70's and she said that my costume looked very similar to her moms!! Clown school?! So cool and fun to learn about other people.

This class will be well worth your time if you are ready to tackle your photos and learn what to do with them. Jennifer is funny and a great teacher. I highly recommend her class.

Every two minutes we take more photos than were taken in the entire nineteenth century. It's no wonder we're a little overwhelmed and don't know how to start organizing them so we can access (see!) them and preserve them.

Photo & Story Treasures is offering a 3-part series (30 minutes each) called "Photo Organization and Preservation: Where Do I Start? And Why?" These online classes will give you information and tips as well as solutions and strategies. If you can't attend live, register anyway and request the recordings.
