Had another fantastic week at Rutter Falls, and with Red Squirrels at the cottage and at Shap, the weather has been kind so managed to get them in the autumn light and colour I have some of the best images I have taken of these beauties, hope you have enjoyed coming along on this journey again .............oh and more to come lol, settings F2.8 1/400th sec@135mm.

Hello All Friends 🦦

This is my first post, but I’ve been following this group for the past year or so. My family and I moved to our new home about six years ago. There are woods all around us and we’ve always had a lot of squirrels here. We started feeding them peanuts a few years ago and we’ve been enjoying their company every day.

This is “Mama Squirrel”. She’s been our most regular customer for probably the past 6 months. I don’t know how many litters she’s had, but her ni***es look like she’s always feeding babies (hence the “Mama” name). She comes by almost every day. I work from home and my desk is close to the porch. If I’m working and don’t see her right way, she’ll bang on the glass to get my attention and then just stand there looking impossibly adorable until I grab the bag of peanuts and hand some out to her.

I’ve always loved animals, but this is the closest relationship I’ve ever had with a wild one (aside from my cat, who’s half African serval and technically “half wild”). I love this group because it’s awesome to see so many other people who care so much about these amazing little rodents. I never would have imagined I’d become so enamored with them myself, but, well, here we are. 🐿️😁

Well this time tomorrow I shall be well into our journey back up to my favourite place Rutter falls to spend another week with these beautiful Red Squirrels, so looking forward to it again I know it`s only been 6 weeks since our last trip but it seems longer, also it would be nice if we can have a few dry days lol...so hopefully many more to come very soon.
