Happy belated Father's Day! Because... well 💁🏻‍♀️ .... kids, life, work. Pick one. 😚🤍

Steven kept giving me crap because I had to take an exam on Father's Day— I was like, MY DUDE. Do you remember all those shifts you worked Mother's Day ?! 🤦🏻‍♀️

IN ALL SERIOUSNESS, he was a champ and took care of the kids all weekend so I could study. I wouldn't have passed if I was juggling kids and breaking up bickers and tantrums.

This is how our life worked for many years. We skipped holidays, celebrated different days, he NEVER— no exaggeration- NEVER had a weekend off for five years in Texas. I love that he gets a swing shift and every other weekend home. That means 12 hour shifts BUT totally worth it (that's from him.. and me! 😉)

So today, we cheers to you with a blue popsicle. Love you. 🤍

Off to work tonight. 🤍 The boys sending him off with kisses goodbye and a "stay safe, dada." R***r is photo bombing 😂🐕

We sleep alone, so you can sleep safe. It's just part of the job. Not an easy part because, let's get real— putting to bed three cranky kids alone is not a fun time for mom. I'm a wife. I'm a mom. I'm a person, too! ... And I'm flipping tired!

Being a wife to a cop is not an easy job. (enter veteran LEOW telling me this six years ago and I didn't believe or understand her). You do a lot. People don't get it and they think your spouse should do more or they're lazy.

What they don't see is that they're giving 110% at work and mustering up what's left to give it to their kids when they get home after a 12 hour shift. If that means I have to take the trash out after reminding him twice and he forgets before work to take it out (again!) or make a second dinner *also know as breakfast for a guy on graveyards-mids-D shift (whatever your department calls it)* so he eats, then that's what I do. I march over—ok, stomp over there—and whip up some eggs because, really, who wants to eat burgers and hotdogs when you wake up at 1700. It may sound like I'm a push over and I let him get off easy, but that's not it...

And that's how we roll in this family.
