FAVE TRANSFORMATION SO FAR . . . 👀 (swipe to see before)

So if you’ve missed a few posts you might be wondering . . . What have you changed? The wall colour? No, actually. Even above my dining room makeover (and cat flap installation) this is my favourite of our transformations so far, our wardrobe! ❤️

I think it was an absolutely genius idea to take the existing wardrobe, cut a bit off, and replace all the doors and cover the sides. IF I DO SAY SO MYSELF. 😂 But the actual quality of the work, the artistry of lining up the grain, and the beautiful curved cut out handles was all done and thought about by expert carpenters. And the result shows! ❤️

MY DINING ROOM MAKEOVER IN STILLS 🍴

What a very literal title to today’s post 😂 But here it is! My mini-makeovered dining room, and I really love it. And I’m really proud of it too! Maybe it’s a small change, but each project I do I learn something new, and to paint a wall for the first time, fighting first-coat fear and soot - I’m over the moon with how it’s turned out! 🌙

This yellow absolutely SINGS in the sunshine, and I’m loving how the colours all have come together. With pops of red, turquoise, navy blue and of course mustard - throughout the dining room and kitchen - I think it feels like one space but with personality. ❤️

I did have a few ummm’s and ahhh’s about putting or not putting something up on the breast. But I really like the chilled vibe of keeping it bare. ❤️

Still waiting on our dining table chairs to be delivered - but as it’s 90% there I couldn’t wait to show you! I’ll keep you posted when they arrive! 👍

KITCHEN BLUES 💙🔪

Ey up our kid! 👋 Did I mention I live in Manchester? 😂 Thought I’d pop a still up today, as it’s been a little while and I know you like a proper nosey and zoom in - which can be much easier on a still.

I probably wouldn’t choose this kitchen had I the choice of whatever I wanted, but to inherit a kitchen like this when you first move into a house is really great! I’d originally thought I wanted a house that was a massive project, but having started work on the house, I’m really glad for my first ever renovation project there’s nothing urgent required. 😂

I’ve got a few more projects to share with you that I’m hoping to complete by Christmas - I can’t wait to show you! I am enjoying making my mark on this house so much - and its even better because you are here on the adventure with me!

SEXY N’ SIMPLE 🛌

I don’t think I’ve ever used the word sexy in a post before ha ha. 😂 But I like to ruffle some feathers sometimes and keep you on your toes! 😱

So a couple of months in to the new house, and I’m really enjoying my bedroom. We inherited the paint on the walls, but weirdly our existing furniture and bedding works really well with it, and it’s still really special to see my up-cycled bedside tables and lampshades.

Recognise the yellow? That’s because it’s the exact paint I’m using on my dining room chimney breast at the moment, so great to finish the tub of paint off. I love the simplicity of this shot - hopefully you do too! ❤️

CHECKER-BORED? 😱

Some controversial statements about interior design . . . INCOMING . . .

▪️I think I’m seeing too much checkerboard everywhere at the moment (doesn’t mean I don’t have it myself! 😂)
▪️ I am not keen on curtains that don’t go all the way to the floor
▪️ Completely neutral decor is a bit boring to me
▪️Pampas grass always makes me worry about dust
▪️I think you need a mix of new and ‘lived in’ furniture and artwork to ground a room
▪️ Interiors take time, and they get better with time, and its also totally fine to change your mind whenever you want about what yo or don’t like

Why am I saying all this? Because its so important that you do what you want, and I do what I want, and we all mutually respect each other! If you are decorating for anyone else other than you and your family then I think you are doing it wrong. It’s great we all have different tastes, and just because we disagree with each other, it doesn’t make us bad people or like each other any less. Embrace creating the home of your dreams, your way! ❤️

THE WALL 🧱

So a few weeks ago I did a post and let you all know that the gorgeous ghost writing wall attached to an abandoned old public laundry behind my house was getting knocked down. Swipe to see what I mean! ⬅️

Unfortunately this is true! It’s something we knew before buying the house, but in just a few weeks time (or so we are told) it’s going to be coming down so that they can build a block of flats instead. This area pictured between our garden wall and the laundry building, is not really used at the moment, but will soon be covered in scaffolding! Will keep you all posted as it happens - will be interesting seeing the view change. 👀

I know this is kinda a mess, and not your usual perfect interior or garden shot, but it’s a moment in history for this old house, and I want to have a record of it. Have you ever lived through a big build next to where you live? Any tips? 😳

MY ‘JUST MOVED IN’ BEDROOM 🛌

I am really enjoying showing you all the rooms of my house with my things in it. It’s funny how different, and yet the same, the room looks compared to my rental. But it’s been really comforting to get back in the same sheets and into my bed as I start to make my house feel like a home 🏡

My plywood wardrobe (see previous posts for it’s amazing transformation) is looking gorgeous and weirdly the blue walls that we inherited look good with our existing bedsheets and cushions. ❤️

We’ve got no curtains in any room at the moment, but I’m kind of enjoying making the most of seeing the view out the window - what do you think?

I LOVE WINDOWS 🪟 ☀️

Yep, Ketchup my beautiful little baby is back up on the grid today, because I caught this little moment of her bathing in the dappled sunlight through my spare bedroom arched window. I adore the shadows and looks like Ketchup is enjoying the warmth! ❤️

If you saw my recent ‘reasons why I bought my house’ reel - you’ll have seen that the windows were one of the reasons we fell in love with the house. I think this post proves why! 😂

I’ve never thought, talked or looked at windows as much as I have in the last few months. Something you never even consider as a renter - and now I am obsessed! Do you love a good window too? 😂

LIVING ROOM REVEAL ❤️🛋️

Now this room isnt even close to being finished - or actually, really started at all, but our stuff is in, the lamps are in position and the TV is up and running, so it’ll definitely do for now. (Swipe to see the empty before! ⬅️)

I think Instagram can be bad at accidentally promoting the ‘quick renovation’ - people flicking from before to after with a click. But I have waited so long to be able to create a home of my dreams with my little family, and I don’t want to rush a single second. So there will most definitely be some transformations, some small and some larger - but at our own pace - and when inspiration strikes.

I hope you are here for all of it. It is looking bloody gorgeous as it is though don’t you think?

MY NEW GARDEN 🪴

Introducing my little secluded garden . . . Isn’t it lovely? Safe to say I am not a gardener, and never have been - so finding a house with a big garden was never a high priority. But this outdoor space has character - and lots of it - and I reckon potential to be gorgeous. What would you do? (I need help!)

I like it feels like a courtyard, as we have a house on the left, and this old laundry building along the back, with the beautiful ghost sign. The outbuildings at the bottom of the garden also have potential! 👀👏and YES, that is a fake grass lawn that we’ve inherited. I feel like faux grass is very divisive but right now since I am literally ignoring the garden - it’s perfect! 😂

The garden isn’t high on my to do list - so don’t expect many changes for a long time - but I wanted to get it up on the grid and show you all my outdoor space! ❤️

WAIT, IS THIS BARBIE CORE? 💖🌸💐🐷💄👙👛🦩🎟️

So turns out, I was right on trend with Barbie pink and I never knew it! 😂 This guest room/office has been monochrome with pink accents since I moved into the flat in June 2022! To be honest, the ‘scheme’ came together with what I had left from other rooms, but is a great room to work and stay in, and no guests have ever complained after a stay at mine! ❤️

BOOKCASE BEAUTY! 🧡📙

Look, I know I’ve been posting a lot about this checkerboard bookcase of dreams . . . but if you had a bookcase that looked like this, wouldn’t you post it lots too?? 😂

This is the first time I’m sharing it fully dressed as well. All dolled up in books, precious objects and plants, and it sits beautifully in this corner of my living room. Packing a punch in a very stylish colourful retro-ish way!

KERB APPEAL 🪞

Here we go again, another Monday and another stab at summer weather? What do we reckon? 😂 SO HOME LOVERS - question for you . . . How important is kerb appeal?

This is the outside of my absolutely stunning rental flat building, which has 8 flats inside, and safe to say - I think it’s a stunner! While house hunting I know I’m not going to get anything like this - BUT it’s still pretty important to me it looks great from the outside. I struggle to even want to view a house if I don’t think it looks good (or could eventually look good) on the outside! Although that’s not proved a fruitful method so far . . .

CREATING A FOCAL POINT 🖼️ (and why I think it’s important)

Oh hey babes! When I moved into my rental flat, my living room was the hardest room to style and get the layout right. Mainly, because there was no obvious focal point, and it was a long rectangular room.

Managing to place a tv, armchair, sofa, bar cabinet, coffee table and bookshelf was really hard whilst not blocking the windows and making it feel like a cosy space. 🤔

The key, once getting the practical elements sorted (aka best view points for the telly) was putting this beautiful retro bar cabinet in the centre of this wall, and making it sing by surrounding it with a gallery wall. This has become the focal point of the room, which is a place for the eye to rest, and makes the styling and colour scheme around it kind of set itself! 🧡💙💛

Since I’m a renter (in case you didn’t know! 😂) I can’t create a focal point with anything permanent - so this has worked perfectly! I adore this little set up now.

BATHROOM BLISS 🛁🫧

How cute is this bubble emoji though? 😂🫧 Look what it is! My rarely seen rental bathroom up on the grid today! What do you think of it?

I find it really hard to imagine what I would do if I could create my dream bathroom in a home. I love the look of a super retro colourful space, but not sure I’d have the courage. For a rental, this bathroom is great, and it’s a really good use of the space, but it isn’t very MEMORABLE is it?

I have tried to add some style through faux plants, artwork and accessories - but it’s still not quite there really. What’s your favourite thing about your bathroom? Any tips to help me fall in love with this space? ⬇️

HOW I CREATED MY CHILL ZONE ☮️

I am all about a chilled bedroom, and creating a space that feels peaceful.

Since I rent, I can’t change the wall colour in here, so rather than working against it, I worked with it and added colour through bedding, cushions, throws artwork and plants, but with a more limited palette of navy blue, soft green and mustard yellow.

I think the reduced palette in here helps add to the calm as it’s soft on the eye - rather than in some other spaces in my flat that are a bit livelier on the colour front! 😂

Lamps, and candles really help create a chill ambience - as does ensuring everything has a place, and the clutter is kept to a minimum. It makes me appreciate what I do have out all the more!

Oh hey babes!! How are you? I can’t believe how quickly the year is flying by, and that we are now already into July?! Whaaaat!

I recently got bought some BEAUTIFUL flowers, and honestly feel like my flat feels so much more ‘put together’ when I have a bunch of flowers in it. You know what I mean? It takes any room to the next level, and just adds that extra ‘guest ready’ touch.

BIRTHDAY BAR 🎉🍺

It’s been a while since I’ve told the story of this magnificent drinks cabinet, sorry if you have heard it before - but here goes a story time . . .

I bought this bar for my boyfriends 30th birthday, I was in Dubai, he was in London and since it was peak pandemic we hadn’t seen each other for 5 months. I commissioned the fab Rachael to bring the idea in my head to life. She bought this old worn out cabinet at auction, and together over a few months we worked on the perfect design for the perfect present of a lifetime.

I wanted it to feel timeless, but retro, with orange (the boyfriends favourite colour) and with a Pat Butcher twist (see my stories to see that!)

We arranged for someone to drive it all the way from Newcastle to London, where I had got one of George’s friends to make sure he was in for it to be delivered. At first he thought I’d bought him a wardrobe (potentially an odd birthday present) but he fell head over heels when he opened the box and realised it was a one of a kind, once in a lifetime drinks cabinet. It now holds our special glasses, and special booze and is the centre of our christmases, birthdays, and boozy Fridays, nearly 3 years later. ❤️🎉 I even had it inscribed, and it is probably our most prized possession (except Ketchup the cat of course!)

We will forever have this in our home, and it will forever be a symbol of my love for him ❤️❤️

I NEED A LIE DOWN! 😮‍💨

WHAT A BLOODY WEEK! This week I started a new job, AND have posted an ad with the amazing which they posted on their GRID! 😱🙌🏼 (see previous post in case you missed it!)

It feels like ‘pinch me moment’ central right here and that things are maybe slotting into place? As I get older (35 now don’t you know!) I realise more and more that I kind of want a simple life? I crave calm and balance right now, and hoping a year after returning to the U.K. that I’m getting close to getting it. I hope so anyway! 🤞🏼

Planning on a chilled weekend ahead after week one in the job! 🥰

Well I am another year older - and didn’t that go quickly? Thank you SO MUCH to all of you reading this for being a part of my life and being my little community here of fellow - interior - lovers! It gets said an awful lot, but you are such a great bunch, and I’m always amazed by the generosity, support and talent of you lot!

I find Instagram such a positive place for me, an outlet for my silliness and creativity and somewhere I feel uplifted and celebrated! I hope you enjoy following along with all my goings on, my home buying and diy journeys (ahem) as much as I enjoy sharing it all.

BIRTHDAY WEEK! ❤️😱🎉

It’s my birthday week, I am a Gemini - and my birthday is on Saturday! I’m very excited as I’m already having a lovely time! My birthday celebrations do tend to last a good couple of weeks 😂 I am sure that does not come as a shock to you! 👀At the weekend just gone I travelled down to London and attended Mighty Hoopla, I had the BEST time! I’ve shared a couple of snaps of it on my stories (not home related, but hopefully still fun!)

This week to celebrate, me and the boyfriend are off to Barry Island and Cardiff for a few days, to see Coldplay in concert and spend my birthday with my bestie! It’s always so special being surrounded by those you love the most on your birthday isn’t it! Will try and keep you posted with the celebrations 🙌🏼

LIFE UPDATE: 💼

So you might have thought that being a social media influencer, DIY tryer, fashionista and house hunter was a full time job for me - but shock horror - it’s not!

I also work full time, and since coming back from Dubai have worked across a few different projects as Volunteer Manager (my main career) and recently have been temping at a rail engineering training company here in Manchester! (It was the most tempy temp role every - message me if you want to know more - it was hilarious!) the REASON I’ve left the temp job, is because I’ve got a brand new permanent role with an amazing organisation that I start in two weeks time and I am so excited/nervous! 🤜🏻

It’s been a bit of a strange road work wise since coming back from working on the World Expo for 2.5 years in Dubai - and it’s not always been positive - but I’m proud of my perseverance and adaptability- and I’ve learnt a lot about myself, my worth and my strength!

ONE OF THOSE DAYS (and it’s okay)

Morning all! Happy Sunday! Yesterday, even though the sun was shining and it was a beautiful day, I felt a bit low and lost and couldn’t shake it off right until the end of the day. Spent most of the day at home on my own (well with Ketchup for company) and just felt unmotivated and too much in my own head. AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT? That’s okay.

We all have these kind of days sometimes, right? And they pass. Today will be better, or maybe it’ll be worse, but the next day will definitely be better. I pride myself on this page being a positive space of inspiration and fun, but honesty is important too. In case you are reading this, and everything in your life is pretty good - or the sun is shining, it’s still okay to not feel okay every day. We are human after all ❤️

I know I’m incredibly lucky to have everything that I have, and this gorgeous living room of mine made for an excellent hideaway from the world. I recently used some of the paints from my bedroom makeover for a couple of the frames in my gallery wall - and now it’s looking EXTRA CUTE! 😱❤️

Well this debate has been raging a LONG time here on the gram hasn’t it! Are YOU team colour or are YOU team neutral? 👀

Well how about this - what’s wrong with being TEAM A BIT OF BOTH? TEAM SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE? 😂

I think I myself have moved on with defining my home style, as a renter - I have to have neutral walls and can’t do much to disguise them, but I also kind of love them?!

Each room in a home is different, each owner is different, and we all like different things - I’m not usually one to sit on the fence - but this time I AM! So I guess I’m team neulour? Team Coltral? Thoughts in the comments on where you are on the spectrum right now! ⬇️

THE WIDE LENS 👀

One thing I often love when seeing peoples homes on here - is trying to see how all the rooms connect and how they flow (or don’t!) For example - did you realise my kitchen comes off of my living room, at the back of the building?

Plus you can also see there is quite a bit of a step down into the kitchen from the level toward the front of the flat! And this photo was taken from the corner where my little bistro table is and where I do lots of my filming! ❤️

Something ages this photo though - have you been here long enough to know what I’m referring to? 😂💛

It’s TUESDAY and FINAL NIGHT! I am super excited but also kinda sad as I don’t want it all to be over for another year! 🥹

ACCIDENTALLY WES ANDERSON 💛

I am loving the amount of Wes Anderson’s all over grids at the moment, that reels trend has gone truly viral! Not sure if I’ll have a chance to do my own version, so thought I’d show a still of a little corner of my bedroom that feels quite Wes Anderson. At least to me! 😂

This gorgeous mid century dresser with gold detailing (which inspired the gold detailing in my recent bedside tables upcycle) was £10 from a local charity shop. £10! Ridiculous bargain.

THE ROOM OF MANY USES 🛌👨‍💼🧺

Friends, followers, and those who identity as neither, this here is my second bedroom, and home office, and laundry room! And it hasn’t featured on the grid all that much - I’m just letting it all hang out! 👀

Now is it’s time to shine, as it’s a space I am so grateful for, and use a lot! To earn money, house guests and dry clothes. All, very important things I think you’ll agree! It runs along the back of our building and has two windows - making it a really light room (on light days 😂). Since this rental pad doesn’t have any outdoor space, the clothes horse is up pretty much 90% of the time - so to be able to close a door to it, is really handy! 🧺
