The Story Of My HATED Fireplace Makeover 👀

I get it TINA* it’s not for you, but it is for me, so get over it! 🤣 This painted red fireplace, in my bedroom, which has pink walls and a pink ceiling really seems to annoy some people. So much so that they have previously called me a clown, say I’ve gone too far, and that I’ve ruined it! ‘But daddy I love him!’ 🤣

I still adore my master bedroom and love my bold red fireplace - have a swipe to see what it looked like before, how I transformed it, and stick to the end to see some of the comments from the haters 🤣 I guess they’re just jealous? 🤣

Would you paint your original fireplace like this? How do you feel about touching original features? 👀 Matt xx

DOWNSTAIRS LOO OF DREAMS! 🧡

I will never be over how good this downstairs loo turned out here are some of the reasons why I love it:

- It’s ORANGE ✅
- It literally glows ✅
- I get to make jokes about needing sunglasses to use it ✅
- It was inspired by the best pizza restaurant in Manchester ✅
- It’s got a super high curvy ceiling ✅
- Even the floor is orange ✅
- It’s one of the first rooms we transformed and I am so proud we were so bold with our choices ✅
- It’s been featured in .manc and ✅
- It’s added value to our house (no idea how much but research suggests about 5% ✅
- It’s ICONIC ✅

On the more negative side:
- Orange has to be the worst colour to paint in a small space, it needed so many coats ❌
- Paint chips off the door and I can’t work out how to stop it chipping but I’ve kind of just accepted it now ❌

THE DINING ROOM SO FAR . . .

Fun fact! Did you know this chimney breast was the first wall I ever painted, and is the first thing I did to the house just after we moved in? 🎉 My boyfriend was on his brothers stag do, so I was left unattended, had some left over and thought, WHY NOT! And here we are! 🤣

It felt so good as a first time home owner to make my mark on the place, and I had so much fun painting away, tunes on, with a glass of wine, and the knowledge I was doing it because I now could, after years of living in white/beige boxes as a renter! And I enjoyed doing it as much as I hoped I would, as since we’ve decorated the downstairs loo, master bedroom and living room! 👏

This room is in no way ‘done’ - none of the other walls have been touched! But we did sand the floor in here at the end of last year (see previous sanding reels!) so that’s helped make it look really fresh! ✌️

Maybe it’s time for a proper makeover in here? What would you do? ⬇️

SOMETHING NEW ❤️

I recently went to Toulouse with my bestie for a few days and of course dragged her around all the home and interior shops I could find - (it feels even more fun when you know you only have a few days to make a decision to takes something home with you or not 🤣) and while there I picked up this beautiful new piece of artwork!

It’s by who creates sustainable pieces and is made from wool! It’s the perfect colourful piece to sit in this gap to the left of the window and I love it! 🥰 When I bought it from I even shared pictures of my room and where I thought it could go 🤣

Even though we decorated this room over a year ago, it’s still developing and being added to, and it’s so nice to think it’s only getting better! What do you think? This room truly glows in the sunshine! ❤️

NEARRRR FARRRR WHEREVER YOU AREEEEE! ⚓️

Welcome to another episode of Hatt Reacts as I share my thoughts on episode 3 of this series of ! Watch till the end to see who I think is my early favourite to win! 🏅 This one was giving silly, giving drama, giving super tough challenge, giving sass - I LOVED IT! 🥰

I do think this challenge was TOUGH, a small budget and just two days was a tall order and I feel bad that we didn’t get to see them all complete all their designs! Did anyone else think they slightly set them up to fail?!

Faves this week are and but so sad to see and go - a double elimination is BRUTAL on week 3 🤣

Well this took me much longer than I thought it would - choosing just 10 of my favourite accounts for a fantasy cast of - felt a bit like an X Factor judge pulling together a band ha ha.

But this lot would be such good telly! Not only are they super talented with interiors, with a range of styles and skills they are PERSONALITIES and we’d all be glued to the drama. 🤣❤️ It’s all we really want, let’s face it!

MAGIC AT HOME ✨

I stumbled across this ball of sunlight in our bedroom the other day by accident, and immediatly pulled my phone out to capture it because it felt so magical! 🧙 I still have no idea what it was or how it happened, a reflection outside of something? But it was beautiful and felt magical, so I’m not going to question it! 🤣

I already miss the sunshine, look how incredible these .colours paints look in here! Truly glowing and creating the most cocooning and fun space! 💕 ❤️ Still got some bits I want to do in here like change the carpet and add some more styling and maybe a big rug . . . but happy for it to develop over time as I see things/can afford them 🤣

MY HOUSE IN SPRING 🌸

Oh Hey Blossom! 🤣 It’s FINALLY pink blossom season for my little Victorian terrace house and a really magical period where for about 3 weeks this tree in our front garden is in beautiful bloom.

The rest of the year it looks like it’s dying and is a bit sad tbh ha ha. When it comes to gardening I have no clue what I am doing, so one day a front garden makeover will happen, just not sure when! 🤣 If you’ve got any ideas for ours - pop them in the comments! ⬇️

I can’t believe this is the second time as homeowners we’ve got to experience the house at spring time, where does the time go?

What I think would happen if I was on Interior Design Masters . . .

So with the announcement that my fave interiors telly show is back on our screens VERY soon, I just had to have a little think about what I reckon would happen if I was ever cast on the show. And let’s just say I don’t think I’d fair well! 🤣

But either way I think it would be iconic, just maybe for all the wrong reasons . . .

Would you ever go on Interior Design Masters yourself?

PERSONAL POST (10 YEARS OF MY LOVE) ❤️🌈

Although I appear a lot on my page alongside my house, it’s actually very rare that I share much about my personal life as I know that’s not really what people are here for.

But this weekend, my boyfriend and I celebrated 10 years together, which called for a big party (what else would you expect) to celebrate, surrounded by our friends and family. And as a key part of my life I thought you lovely lot might like an invite to the party too! 🎉🎈

We gave a speech at the bash (surprise surprise), and shared with those around us how helpful they’ve been in showing us as q***r people, that we too deserve, and can have, long term loving relationships, something that I did not see and couldn’t imagine when I was growing up. I truly never thought it possible. That’s why, marking 10 years as a couple was so important to us and I am so proud how hard we work to try and create our dream life and protect our happiness, everyday.

It’s important to remember that as a straight person, or a q***r person who has support, that you are privileged, and there are so many who right now may not think they are deserving of love or understand that there is nothing wrong with who they love. If you have love, share it, be kind to others, especially those who are different to yourself, and nurture it, it’s so important and precious. ❤️

Thanks for embracing me on here, and for showing up to support. It means a lot! Now back to interiors content . . . 🤣
