Day 8-9: December 30-31 – New Year’s Eve in Hanoi

📍 Hanoi, Vietnam

After arriving back in Hanoi on December 30, we decided to take it slow and rest before the big night. With New Year’s Eve approaching, the excitement in the city was building up, and we were ready to celebrate!

On December 31, we went on a mission to find the perfect place to welcome 2025. We had heard that Hoan Kiem Lake would be packed with people watching the fireworks, so we decided to look for a rooftop bar instead. Most places were already fully booked, but luck was on our side when we found Majesty Sky Bar at La Sinfonía Majesty Hotel & Spa.

Since we availed of their New Year’s Eve ticket promo, which included a table, food, and drinks, we were also entered into a raffle draw—fingers crossed for a win! Unfortunately, our numbers weren’t picked, but that didn’t dampen our spirits. The real highlight was the fireworks display over Hoan Kiem Lake—it was absolutely stunning. The sky lit up with bursts of color, and from our rooftop view, we had the perfect vantage point to soak it all in.

Celebrating the start of the new year in Hanoi, surrounded by good food, drinks, and an unforgettable atmosphere, was truly a night to remember!

Day 7: December 29 – Morning at Moana Café & Night Train to Hanoi

📍 Sapa → Hanoi

Our final day in Sapa was a dreamy farewell, wrapped in a blanket of fog that added a magical touch to the morning. We started the day at the famous Moana Café, a charming spot known for its rustic vibe and stunning views. Though the weather was foggy, it created an ethereal atmosphere, making every photo feel like a scene from a fairytale.

With a warm cup of Vietnamese coffee in hand, we took our time soaking in the tranquility of the surroundings. The café’s cozy ambiance and the misty mountain backdrop made it the perfect way to say goodbye to Sapa.

As evening approached, we prepared for the next leg of our journey: the night train back to Hanoi. The train ride was peaceful, with the rhythmic motion of the tracks and the cool mountain air outside the windows. It gave us time to reflect on our unforgettable days in Sapa—the breathtaking views, delicious food, and serene moments we’ll cherish forever.

Though leaving Sapa was bittersweet, the adventure continues in Hanoi! 😊🥰

From City Lights to Mountain Heights: Our Journey to Sapa
Day 4: December 26, 2024

📍 Ho Chi Minh → Hanoi → Sapa

Today was all about transitions as we left the vibrant streets of Ho Chi Minh City and headed to Hanoi. Flying with Vietnam Airlines was a breeze—clean cabin, friendly crew, complimentary snacks, and even in-flight movies to pass the time!

Upon landing, we made our way to Mango Hotel, the meet-up point for the Laman Express Train. The process was seamless, and we met Ha, who was so accommodating and helpful. She even recommended trying the grilled street food right in front of the hotel—a smoky, flavorful treat that made the wait enjoyable!

Later, we boarded the Laman Express Train, booked via 2GO Travel, for our overnight trip to Sapa. The train was clean and cozy, with comfy beds and thoughtful touches like complimentary snacks, water, and even beer. The soothing sound of the tracks made the journey an adventure in itself.

Tomorrow, we’ll wake up in the heart of Sapa, surrounded by misty mountains, terraced fields, and unforgettable views. Can’t wait to explore!

Christmas in Ho Chi Minh: A Day of Treats and Treasures
Day 3: December 25, 2024

Christmas morning in Ho Chi Minh City started on a relaxing note with a food delivery straight to our condo. A quick bite of banh mi from KBC Bread paired with coffee gave us just the energy we needed.

Our next destination was Takashimaya, a modern and elegant shopping mall that felt like a world away from the bustling markets. The atmosphere was festive and luxurious, with beautifully decorated interiors perfect for Christmas Day. Here, I finally treated myself to a pair of New Balance shoes—a practical and stylish addition to my collection. The variety of shops and brands in Takashimaya made it easy to find what we needed while enjoying the sophisticated vibe.

Afterward, we made our way to the iconic Café Apartment, one of the most fascinating spots in Ho Chi Minh City. This unique nine-story building is filled with charming cafes, each with its own personality. Exploring the narrow staircases and quirky signs felt like a mini adventure in itself. We chose 21 Grams Vegetarian for a quick snack break—a peaceful, plant-based café with a cozy atmosphere. Sitting by the window, we had a perfect view of the busy streets below, which added a serene yet vibrant touch to our afternoon.

The day continued with a walk through Book Street, where we admired rows of bookshops and even picked up a few titles. Next, we visited the historic Post Office for some more souvenirs and a dose of architecture. Although the Notre Dame Cathedral was under construction, its beauty and charm still stood out, offering a glimpse into Vietnam’s rich history.

To end the day, we treated ourselves to a delivery from Pizza 4P’s for dinner. Their famous wood-fired pizzas were the perfect way to wrap up our Christmas celebration. The mix of local flavors and Italian-inspired dishes was a treat for the taste buds.

Christmas Day in Ho Chi Minh City turned out to be a perfect mix of modern comfort and cultural exploration. Every stop had its own story, and the festive energy of the city made the day even more special.

Day 2 part 1: December 24, 2024

📍 Exploring Ho Chi Minh City

Christmas Eve in Ho Chi Minh City was packed with activities and unforgettable experiences! We started the day exchanging money at Ha Tam, our reliable spot for good rates (though Mai Van is another solid option). From there, we headed to Ben Tanh for some local eats and souvenir shopping. This market is always alive with vibrant colors and smells that capture the heart of Vietnam. Unfortunately, I was so caught up in enjoying the food that I forgot to snap a picture—but stay tuned for my YouTube channel where I’ll share all the details. 😉

Now, about the real star of the day: egg coffee at Little Hanoi Café. This wasn’t just a drink—it was an experience. The creamy, custard-like foam on top was light yet rich, blending perfectly with the bold, robust Vietnamese coffee underneath. Every sip was a mix of sweet, velvety smoothness and the perfect hit of caffeine. It’s honestly hard to describe just how good it was—comforting, unique, and absolutely unforgettable. This might be my new favorite way to enjoy coffee, and if you’re in Vietnam, it’s a must-try!

We touched down in Ho Chi Minh City, ready to dive into a whole new adventure! Our first move? Grabbing a taxi with the super convenient Grab app. After settling in, we headed to Café Sunwah for our first taste of Vietnamese flavors—a perfect welcome to this vibrant city.

With our hotel booked via Booking.com, everything was smooth and hassle-free. Traveling light-ish, but with everything we need—4 hand-carry bags and 4 checked in. Ho Chi Minh, let’s explore! 😁

Payday Friday: Stress, OT, cramps, and deadlines—jackpot combo! 🎯😭

After a long and stressful week, I decided to treat myself to a solo date at La Delicia Spanish & Italian Cuisine, a cozy new restaurant on Lazatin Boulevard, Pampanga. 💕

Pumpkin soup (comfort in every sip!), ribs pasta, a refreshing strawberry ginger drink, and tiramisu paired with Vienna coffee! Medyo pricey, pero mahal ko sarili ko. 🥂

When I entered, the waiter asked, “Having me time?” Smiling, I said, “Yes.” Pero sa utak ko, “Oo kuya, single pero may pambili. Priorities lang yan!” 😌 Yup, ako lang ang mag-isa kasi lahat couple. Ako na ang plot twist! But honestly? Masaya din to! 🥰

While others were out partying or on dates, I was busy rewarding myself after a week of hustle. This is why I work so hard para ma-enjoy ko rin ang pinaghirapan ko!

Some might say, “Ang mahal naman ng dinner niya.” But here’s the thing: mahal ko kasi sarili ko. And if I don’t show myself I deserve this, who will? 😉

Hugot lang: Minsan, ikaw lang talaga ang plus-one mo. And you know what? That’s perfectly okay. 💖 Treat yourself because life isn’t just about paying bills and meeting deadlines—it’s about celebrating small victories and giving yourself the love you deserve.❤️🥹

So, next time na mag-doubt ka sa extra tiramisu o coffee, tanungin mo lang sarili mo: “Worth it ba?” Sagot diyan: “Ako pa ba?!” 🫶❤️👌🏻😉

Throwing it back to my high school and college days! 📚✨ I spent my high school years at St. Scholastica’s Academy Marikina, and then went on to the University of Santo Tomas for college, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. So many unforgettable memories and life lessons from these chapters. Looking back, I’m grateful for all the experiences that shaped who I am today. 💛

Spent the day with my mom as she took on the project of organizing and fixing our old pictures and documents. It brought back so many memories, and I even stumbled upon my high school diploma! Proud to have graduated from St. Scholastica’s Academy Marikina—such a special chapter of my life. It’s amazing how looking back can remind us of how far we’ve come. 💙
